Greater Anghor

The Bastion of the North

Set atop the edge of the world, The Kingdom of Greater Anghor buffers The Itubour Taiga against the rest of civilization.

Location

A small kingdom upon the Northern Wastes, within Fodorwaith, and a Barony of Rohan (King Théoden)

Barony

Fodorwaith is the vast cold region to the north of Carn Dum and Mount Gundabad. Nestled just above the Grey Mountains’ slopes lies Greater Anghor, encompassing Anghor Keep, two surrounding villages, Anghor Thom and Anghor Dum, and a collection of grazing and farmland further afield.

Lordship

The rightful leader of Anghor, Lord Théoddar, was killed in the Battle of the Five Armies, after heading the call of Bard to defend the free people of Esgaroth. His wife, Lady Elenna, Baroness of Anghor and South Fodorwaith now rules the lands, with fealty to King Théoden, her second cousin. Since the Lord's death, suitors occasionally come to court her, but she has thus far shown little desire to remarry. She has a younger sister named Haleth.

Anghor Keep

Lord Théoddar’s castle was never very large and little is known within his lands of its origins. It takes advantage of impassable mountains to its rear, and high strong walls with an adjoining tower. Beyond that however, it is unimposing, housing the royal family and their small retinue of followers. The Keep was strong enough to stop a medium sized orc army, pillagers fleeing their defeat at The Battle of Five Armies, looking for easy plunder. Lady Elenna directed the relief army from the safety of the keep itself.   Of note, all shipments to the kingdom are ordered to first pass through The Keep, and then redistributed back into the towns, even though logistically, they must travel past the largest city, Anghor Thom, first.
"Some call it abysmal. I've heard others mumble forlorn. But for me? For me, Anghor has always been just one thing: home." - Ivor, Sheriff of Anghor Thum
