Anghor Thom
Largest Town Within Greater Anghor
Town
Founded before the keep was built, Anghor Thom is the last major trading point and formal village before the Northern Wastes. Most supplies from the south of the Grey Mountains pass through it first, before getting checked at The Keep, and then flowing back for distribution. This leaves little traveling further north to its sister trading post, Anghor Dum. Angor Thom has a well developed militia who are called upon to help defend The Keep when knights run low. However, the militia is not organized, and at times more of a mob.Townsfolk
Anghor Thom folk consider themselves city dwellers, despite most having never traveled beyond their own barony. Regardless, they do tend to be slightly more educated and worldly than their northern brethren in Anghor Dum. To this point, they often disparage them, using the favored phrase ‘Dum Dumbers.’ Anghor Thom is predominately peopled by men of the north, but does have a mix of Dwarves and some hearty hobbits, and the occasional traveling Elf troupe.Sheriff Ivor
Though there is no official security force, Sheriff Ivor leads the town’s large militia with his female Dwarven companion Kona. It is rumored they are romantically involved, but no one has the courage to ask. Ivor is not generally well thought of, although his support of the baroness is unquestioned.Government
A light touch from the royal family, Anghor Thom's disputes are typically settled by the Sheriff's office, and are only pushed past in extreme circumstances.
Infrastructure
Anghor Thom has come a long way in the past generation, with the building of a pair of bridges over the Ameslan River which snakes between the east and west sides of town. A new religious order has settled within town as well, establishing 'Failing Sun's Light Church' as well as many new businesses opening including Smaug's Den.
