Brittle

Brittle is a grass-like plant that covers the plains of Terrax. It can withstand the blistering heats of the dry season by containing the little amount of water it gets within it's roots, preventing the plant from dehydrating. Unlike grass, brittle can cause minor damage without the right protection, as it's tips are incredibly sharp as well as having smaller blades come off of each individual blade of brittle called pricks that are equally sharp. Many creatures of Terrax get around this hazard through their evolution, such as the Terraxians with their hard scaly feet unable to be penetrated by brittle or the Ittraxi who step so lightly and have thick enough fur that brittle does not affect them. The wind often picks up blades of brittle causing the blades to stab passers-by.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The shape is similar to that of grass, only it grows taller and is thinner, with pricks coming out of each blade. It has a murky green colour merged with a brown colour.

Genetics and Reproduction

Pricks that fall off of a blade of brittle become a seedling, and grow into their own blade.

Ecology and Habitats

Brittle grows only in the plains of Terrax, where it can often be the only living thing for miles.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Brittle requires little water and what little it gets can last it for months.
