Lady Darella's Wood
Lady Darella's Wood sits in the middle of three major settlements within The Kingdom of Breaton: Witchbark to the East, Stockcross to the South & Pineglen to the West. These woods are a mix of tall, needle pines & broadleaf trees such as oak, birch & elm. Well stocked with small and large game and reletivly clear of dangerous creatures the woods are a favoured hunting grounds for many nobels & commonfolk alike within all three cities.
Along with the various animals hunted here, the woods provide good foraging for herbs & other vegetation for those with the skill to find them. The Kingdom layed out laws to prevent excessive logging from here to keep the woodland a good size & well stocked for all to use. Between the Autumn & Spring equinox hunting is forbidden within the boundries of the woods. Those caught breaking this law are often punished sevearly and publicly.
The wood was named for a nobel woman, Lady Darella of Witchbark. Locals from Witchbark hold a ceremony once a year in honour of her name at height of summer, bringing carvings & offerings to appease her spirit, praying for a warm winter & bountiful spring.
During the winter months these woods are often subjected to heavy snowfall blowing in from the Farscape Peaks to the North.
