Embercrest Valleys

Dusted with smoke and steam, the Embercrest Valleys are considered some of the most beautiful hills in Beru. The mountain known as Embercrest awoke around a hundred years ago and has been slowly growing in size ever since. The abundant gysers pour into tributaries forming a river that has been watering the southern peninsula of Beru for generations, named the Shayle Stream.   The area has no particular ecological oddities or notable features, occasionally creatures from the Vasugan Marshes will venture into the region but rarely make it too far. The area is used by residents of Duskvale as a hunting ground and small mining operations.

Geography

This region of Beru is considered to be one of the most capivating and serene due to the soft rolling hills and winding valleys filled with steam. Known for its combinaton of limestone and basalt which creates deep aquifers of mineral rich water and verdant grassland habitats filled with ground dwelling birds, hares, foxes and wild goats.    The closer you get to Embercrest itself the steeper the hills become, though the volcano itself isn't the tallest in Beru. The landscape becomes increasingly inhospitable as the mountain spews fire and rivers of lava down its black slopes.    The northen edge of the region acts as a border to the Greenshield Jungle with the change in topography preventing the flora from taking hold and expanding further.

Ecosystem

The area is primarily a grassland habitat with miles of corse grasses and small bushes dominating the landscape, especially on the tops of the hills. However down in the valleys you can find trees growing along banks of small streams that burst from the ground.

Localized Phenomena

On days where the wind is still the entire region becomes drenched in smoke, this causes the area to become even more trecherous as travellers cannot see dangers that might be approaching. It has been noted by scholars that the wildlife is unaffected with predators still hunting successfully and hunters being spotted by their prey.
