At the same time the brutal lifestyle of Ursand makes it common for Ursandians to be very pessimistic and even fatalistic, the backbone of the society is those who can look into that adversity and laugh and make others laugh. Ursandians have strong Norse and Celtic influences in name and design, their architecture has the benefit of dwarven help including primitive steam heating systems.   A sad part of life in Ursand is that if you can't keep up you will either die or be sent away, should someone be unable to help due to a physical or mental limitation the community can't keep them there, for the good of the community and the persons own good their family will gather up coin and supplies and send them out with the next shipment of lumber. It is rare for any community to want to send someone away like that but they know it is for their own good for it is the way of Ursand that the strong thrive and the weak perish.
