The Hand of the Ancestors

The Hand of the Ancestors, often known as 'The Hand' is an organization that on the surface is just supposed to be the custodians of the culture of the dwarves. Inside the city of gears though it is known as religious police that has the power to exile or kill those who disagree with their very staunch (even by dwarven standards) adherence to traditional dwarven values.

Structure

The Hand has a few public officals but they hold no actual power over the organization, they are figureheads only. The actual powerbase of the Hand remains a state secret but rumor has it that it is made of high ranking clergy and old dwarven lords.

Culture

To be a dwarf is to follow the exacting examples of the past unerringly. This means xenophobic outside of business deals, to acquire wealth and power, maintain personal and familial honor, respect the law and authority above you, and maintain an exceptional beard.

To keep the faith in the dwarven gods (their versions and names for the actual gods), and ensure the following of dwarven traditions.
