Tavori

Tavori

When one thinks of a wizard that image is a perfect fit for the Tavori. The Tavori are dedicated to trying to control magic to use it for their own ends, which happen to be for the most part the ability to safely use magic in a predictable way. Of The Mage Factions, the Tavori have less stigma about them as kings and other powerful figures are known to employ mages belonging to this affection for the reason they are in control of their power and many Tavori mages seek to use their power to advance their station or agendas but the core of the Tavori is about gathering knowledge and furthering their ability to control the Arcane.   As the Scorathi and have Artificers and Wizards it is possible for a Sorcerer to be a Tavori, it is rare to find one who has the mental fortitude and discipline to manage this and the few there are have been trained from a very early age. Sometimes a Sorcerer looks upon their gift as more of a curse either from tragedy or their upbringing and as such they seek to control their power absolutely. Their training involves the suppression of emotion and the embracing of logic and reason which they can extend into their magic. The will forever have that desire to break out of their rigid lifestyle and embrace their power, and perhaps because of how they are trained they represent an even greater danger should one find themselves unable or unwilling to control themselves any longer.

Tavori casting

The Tavori don't immerse themselves in magic as the Scorathi do, they believe that it is far too dangerous to connect to the Arcane and allow it to flow through themselves. Instead, they follow an example of the Dwarves and seek to bind magic into runes, sigils, wards, and magic circles that siphon magic out of the world to cast a spell while having a barrier from directly touching the Arcane themselves.

Structure

  • Grandmaster
  • Archmage (one for each school)
  • Master
  • Mage
  • Apprentice
The structure of the Tavori mirrors that of the Seekers guild, a Grandmaster rules over the affairs of the order while a council of Archmages handles lesser affairs and executing the will of the Grandmaster. Masters are teachers and students at the same time trying to teach others control while furthering their own.

Culture

Order must be imposed onto chaos, magic is dangerous and unpredictable and needs to be brought under control to be used for the benefit of all. You must know something to use it. Views magic as science and that it must be controlled through rituals that siphon power without connecting to the source of magic.

Public Agenda

Spread the use of the disciplined and controlled style of magic to bring the chaotic magic under control to be used by those will the skill to use it.

Assets

The Tavori Tower is in a demi-plane adjacent to the material plane where the Tavori house great libraries, scrying facilities, and all manner of magical production and means. Being on a demi-plane the tower does not have to obey the normal laws of physics and as such is built far too high into the sky and is impossibly large on the inside.

Control is Power

A Tavori Sorcerer can take the option to use Intelligence as their casting stat instead, these tend to be the offspring of powerful wizards.   Wizards and Artificers are always considered to be Scorathi regardless of their own personal beliefs (though they commonly agree with most if not all those principles at least starting out.)
