Mintauri

The Mintauri are the Minotaurs of Belthuran with several variants of the species based on where they are from. The Minotaurs of the northern lands are the Highland Minotaurs with long shaggy fur and tall yak-style horns.

Kirtauri

Kirtauri are among the rarest of the minotaur to come across as they are technically angel blooded minotaurs. Supposedly the mortal avatars of the Tempest. Their fur color varies but usually is mostly the color of a storm cloud from grey to black with patterns unique to the Kirtauri in either an electric blue or blonde colored fur often resembling lightning. Their horns have a secondary growth that spirals around the horns and is rarely smooth often having numerous bumps along them. Their horns often curl forward above their eyes before going straight up. As some might expect following the Tempest is a very common faith for the Kirtauri.

Hartauri

The Highland Minotaurs are native to the colder climates of Belthuran and are well adapted to such life. They share traits with a Yak having longer thick fur but also have large hooves for feet that at least help with distributing their weight on snow and ice. They are effective hunters, trappers, and foragers in the cold places of the world, in particular, they enjoy the tundras of Hammerock, and many make a good life for themselves helping the Ursandian communities, though they must still fear the Gravefog.

Oxtauri

The 'standard' minotaur, short fur, and favoring temperate to tropical areas are the most widely seen variety outside of Hammerock or Ursand, with notable communities in Rhyderia, Arcessa, and Ormir. Though they originally hail from the islands south of Etrisium.
The legend around the creation of the Mintauri is tied to the Tempest, who sent his angels in mortal form to the world to find places where storms were strong and establish temples to the Tempest and challenge the mortals of the world to become stronger and worship him. Eventually, the realities of the mortal world began to alter these angels to adapt them to their chosen locations. Kirtauri are seen as chosen of the Tempest and destined to greatness, some believe that there is a stable population of Kirtauri somewhere in the world but most think they are born when the Tempest needs an avatar and can be to any family as they are all descendants of the angels.
The Mintauri are largely tribal or clan-based those who choose a nomadic existence take on a tribal methodology to their unit, while those who choose to settle form clans to work together and have relationships with others of their kind amid the many other peoples of a city. Should a Kirtauri be born into one of those groups they are often groomed to become the next leader as they are assumed to be born to their group for a reason, this can cause issues as one might expect from those who might normally be in line to take leadership.
