Crismathyst Item in Belthuran | World Anvil

Crismathyst

Crismathyst is a strange type of gemstone that is not natural to Belthuran, it is said that the first instance of Crismathyst is when Kindralth shone ruby at the moment of the assassination of Tyrannus Sharvaulus’Dorathen. It is said that the anger of the Firstborn was so intense some diamonds on the surface of Belthuran were affected turning into Crismathyst. A Crismathyst has a dark purple almost black hue on the outside that rapidly shifts into a deep crimson color in the center that is clear.   While most of the original Crismathyst has been harvested there are practices that can use even a small portion of Crismathyst to grow more and there exist rituals that can profane diamonds into Crismathyst. Though such knowledge is rare to come by and in most cases can only be gained through deals with profane powers. Those that grow such crystals do well to not advertise such given how rare they are and given that many mages would sooner see that substance destroyed and forgotten.

Manufacturing process

It can be grown on diamonds over time or converted in a profane ritual but cannot be altered through transmutation magics as it negates them like other magics.

Significance

Crismathyst is the only known substance that can be used to interfere with magic, particularly against casters. But if incorporated properly will prevent magic in an area. If ground into a powder it can be used to create areas that isolates an area from magic, this can be used to trap outsiders within even preventing them from returning to their plane of origin.
