Session 110-111: Sad Clanking Noises

General Summary

40th Proviso:

  • Head south with Andromeda
  • She transforms into a green-purple grung wearing leather and carrying a staff
  • Advises that there's Basilisks and spiders in the area; spiders will only be aggressive if hungry and hunting
  • Fey spiders attack what they see as food, and spiderlings are hidden well by the matriarch
  • Travel south through green area
  • Andromeda has lived in the forest for 25-30 years and learned some skills from Grandmother and Ethissia the dryad - Druidcrafts flowers for Liv and Rel
  • Ser Bright and Corvus left in the morning; issue with Grandmother has been plaguing her for a couple of days, whatever it is, its somehow siphoning her consciousness
  • Peni and Andromeda talk on watch about Grung and if there are more of her kind; there may be but she's not met any. Grandmother believes Andromeda's parents weren't of this forest; that she was transported as spawn and ended up here. Golar, Corvus and Ser Bright were not of this forest either; believes it is fate that they met Grandmother.
  • Andromeda has always been aware, Grandmother awakened the others. Taught Corvus how to read, and Ser Bright to talk (now he won't shut up).
  • The Grove is Grandmother's home that they will help defend.
  • The Basilisks and Spiders are a deterrent; Nature has a way of finding her balance
  • There are many that would take advantage of this place: the forest will hold its own.
 

41st Proviso

  • Continue on in the morning, find a statue of a figure that Peni has seen through the rifts, appears to be petrified.
  • Stretched human like figure with a normal sized body, feet proportional to its long legs - some kind of jewelery around its neck.
  • Draw map of where it is for future, Liv draws picture of the creature.
  • Rel sees movement in trees that vanishes - likely spiders, scout for the brood.
  • Come across big clearing that is dying
  • Rock formation in the centre of the clearing
  • Sending to Corvus - receive garbled reply: Save me, not sure where I am, Ser Bright not here, be careful.
  • Sending to Ser Bright - waffly response back, with Corvus but not with him.
  • Peni picks up magic in centre of the rock, partially necromantic, partially transmutative, wisps going to a focal point in the rock where there is a small purple gem
  • Ser Bright comes, carrying Corvus - catatonic, coma like state.
  • Dispel magic didn't work on the gem
  • Rel's consciousness is pulled away, end on plane similar to Astral plane
  • Corvus is there also, along with large floating rocks and a large creature with many limbs
  • Outside, others are trying to break the gem free - Peni notices the gem is embedded in a creatures hand, about 60ft sized body
  • We're all pulled in eventually, Peni hears words in Abssal, It's power feeds, zuagarr shall rise
  • It says it can sense us
  • Liv sees a stream of energy linking with the creature
  • End up fighting it - Golar magically(?) appears (but we forgot because Christmas, maybe??)
  • When in range of it, it throws random magical effects
  • As the creature gets weaker, and you get out of range and end up back in your body
  • Golar is lost in the plane :( Body is taken by the pods
  • Eventually all get back, Rel and Robyn pull gem free
  • Creature pulled into material plane, along with infected Golar
  • Defeat the creature, Liv uses revivify on Golar, which seems to clear infection but doesn't revive him
  Part II - After the Break  
  • Recall that Golar wasn't with us when we were travelling, so not sure how he got to be in the same plane as the rest of us
  • No other creatures around
  • Peni uses detect magic - transmutation aura around golar's body
  • Weird unrecognisable magic around the stone
  • Face can be seen in the stone - large, humanish features
  • Talk about the Boots of Leliana - when she uses them, a woman appears in place of the hand, long brown hair, rocklike corset, vaguely looks like what we believe Leliana to look like.
  • Power in this place is linked to Leliana, goddess of agriculture, nature and animals - the same magic but a different form.
  • Avatar of Zua'garr is a mushy mess, whatever life it had has stopped.
  • It looks like amalgamation of parts - partys aren't entirely familiar (initial thought that they might be remains of skirmishers and others)
  • Xun was a worshipper of Zua'garr, may know more.
  • Tracks for Andromeda continue south then vanish in a tree - likely shifted shapes again.
