Session 111-112: Purple is Suspicious

General Summary

41st Proviso

  • Ser Bright leads the way back, Corvus goes ahead to the grove.
  • Finds a hut, Ser Bright plays a prank, screams there's a body (there's not)
  • Hut is old, furniture largely petrified, no evidence of webs or spiders.
  • Rel gives Robyn the note from the Ascendent - its not Thieves Cant but it is encoded.
  • While Robyn is working on the note, Peni timeshifts with the rod (motherf-)
  • He focuses on the rod, sees everything shimmer slightly - feels his arm burn with runes, and sees the same matching runes on the Rod
  • Peni sees the Slenri of the hut dragging a carcass in
  • The Slenri sees him and he waves just before being dragged back
  • Peni draws runes on the rod in the journal and recounts that the creature saw him - so its not visions, he is actually travelling
  • Land around is lush and thriving at the time he travels - he's either going back to the same point in time or the same number of years
  • When checking the hut again there is an addition of a crude carving on the wall - copied into the journal
  • Rel takes over watch, asks Ser Bright if he is a fae - no, he was born in this forest and used to be stone, like all animals here, and awoken with the help of Ethissia.

42nd Proviso

  • Corvus returns from Grove - Grandmother has forgotten the last few days
  • We head back to the Grove - Golar is there but he laid down about midday and hasn't awoken since.
  • Grandmother feels concerned, worried for Golar - he's not the same state as when were pulled in, seemingly completely catatoni, Body is there but mind is not
  • Other animals mentioned a frog - they remember Andromeda although Grandmother has forgotten
  • Corvus is concerned that Golar sensed they were in trouble, and what fought alongside him was a fragment of his consciousness
  • Golar laid down around midday yesterday and hasn't moved since
  • Liv casts greater restoration and removes the gem in his mouth - partial transmutation, partial illusion magic aura, gems were hidden in food
  • Peni checks the stores for food - detect illusion magic from golar's food store and finds that some jerky has been wrapped around three more gems, likely Fragments of the same gem
  • Golar recalls he felt he died, and remembered seeing Liv before passing
  • He was compelled to sleep by a tiredness that would not fade, so he slept and woke in the same place as us, though the actions and words were not his, like he was a passenger in his own body. He felt compelled to attack the creature and defend us all.
  • Only remembers darkness after dying - felt the pain of dying, the feeling of being infested, and seeing Liv try and revive him.
  • Check on Grandmother - she's shaken, but so far no more episodes.
  • She didn't know Leliana - only that she was one of the Lords that didn't answer when called.
  • She's scared that her name, Bronwen, something she distanced herself from, is now known.
  • She does recall the Slenri, long humanoid figures, thought they died out in the Cataclysm. They lived in and around the forest, protecting it - but also had a tunnel network.
  • Unsure if they had innate magic; recalls them as a simple, peaceful people, good at constrction.
  • Believes the petrification was a side effect of the Soul Anchor, as it destroyed most things, but could also be the Tower to the West.
Sending to Andromeda: You ran off without saying goodbye. What did you actually want from us and Grandmother? Is Zuagarr your foe or your master? Reply from Ry'thera: I apologise for not saying goodbye You habd served your purpose You did what I needed to do Thank you very much   Sending to Dhaer: Crossed paths with Ry'thera again. Think he has huge creature under his control. Lost track Of him in petrified forest. Can you warn Imperium? Reply: Will send word. Stay safe.
  • Talk about our next step - possibly use speak with dead on Leliana, or the Slenri, but they might not be able to speak any of our languages.
  • Talk about Rel's mother, Robyn offers to shoot her, Liv to use Speak with Dead; Rel less than pleased.
  • Corvus comes back and can see a scrying orb above us - we speculate who it can be, then Robyn receives a Sending message from Otho: Do not be worried I am just checking up on how you are doing Reply: Thank you for clarification. We're a bit paranoid right now. If you haven't caught up with Dhaer yet you probably should.
  • Liv goes to speak with Rel and they have a bit of a spar (Rel wins).
  • Robyn talks to Corvus about everything West - Tower is there, and majority of territory in between is covered by spiders. There's more forest to the West of the tower, then it just stops - possibly downhill, no mystery fog.
  • Go to say goodbye to Bronwen; Liv recounts what was discussed a couple of days ago that Grandmother forgot.
  • Liv's understanding is that the Scholar was the Betrayer; Bronwen is certain that Ogrim led armies to Bastion, wreaking ruin upon civilisations, betraying humanity. She doubts that someone could corrupt a god - though she does seem to be holding some detail back.
  • Ogrim was singularly focused on the scholar, and she found it hard to believe that a god would bring so much hell to bear for one person.
  • Bronwen says if Ry'thera returns they will make sure he won't return again.
  • Continue West, get to petrified area of the forest and the greener canopy fades. Spot webs in the branches.
  • Stop for a rest in the shadow of a giant footprint. Peni sees old branches overnight, an area long abandoned by spiders - boring place.
  • Liv and Peni talk about the rod; Peni wonders if he can do something with and control it, but it tries to pull him back, or taks a lot to put him there - feels like being dropped but in your head.
  • Wanted to test something but not in the middle of the forest; so far its only worked where there's been Slenri involved but no record of them having magic.
  • Both notice Robyn having a nightmare of sorts.

  • Robyn's dream starts in Purgatory, which is empty. She walks the walls, and can see shapes in the far distance over the tundra, but hard to tell what they are.
  • Atop a broken section of the community hall is the devil that she wants to hunt down.
  • Then she hears Mordekai speak to her - offering a deal, her soul in exchange for the ability to reach Chelea.
  • He won't do anything to speed up retrieving her soul - just it will be his when she passes.
  • Robyn asked what he gets out of it - he explains that politics is a strange thing, and those with power in the Abyss wish to keep it, and wish others with power to lose theirs.
  • Maukazul is - was - powerful, but doesn't "play" anymore. Daegon believes he is an heir to that power, and Mordekai would rather not see Daegon rise.
  • For a price - initially her soul - in return for information, and a way of travelling where Daegon resides to take him out on his plane.
  • Robyn sees the world around smoulder and Purgatory evolve into a city of black stone, pavements of smouldering ash, lemures and humanoids wondering the streets in disheveled states, other entities that Robyn couldn't name or identify.
  • Moderkai explains she is standing in Daegon's home, and offers a red carved stone that would be in her possesion to bring her here - how she got back would be up to her, but he was sure the friends she had would have means.
  • This is the city of Chelea, and the tower is where he is most vulnerable -
Peni and Liv shake Robyn awake; she doesn't discuss the dream. On her watch she recognises that the area used to be a nest, and the area we're sat in is a giant footprint of something around 100ft in size based on approx gait, the footsteps veering towards the north away from the west track we were on.
