The Sunlit Vale

Every time I return home, I'm struck by how the sight of it fills me with joy and a sense of renewed hope. The beauty... the actual sense of light makes me forget, if only for a short time, how dark and corrupt so much of the world is. It can feel it pulse with life and the feeling makes me wonder why I ever leave.

Geography

The Sunlit Vale lies at the southern part of the Dragonheart Mountains, nestled comfortably between the foothills. The Talon River runs down from the mountains through the east side of the vale. The grass is thick and lush, and numerous small copses of trees are woven throughout.
Three small villages are located in the vale, the inhabitants engaging in farming and tending to orchards. In addition to the human villages is a settlement of halflings in the eastern part of the vale.

Fauna & Flora

A large selection of plants and flowers grows in the vale, most of it left to nature to tend. Coniferous trees are the most common here outside of the orchards, although there is a healthy population of deciduous trees as well.
The orchards grow various kinds of fruits, from apples to pears to cherries. These are well tended by the inhabitants of the vale, who use them mostly for trade, although much of it is also used for their own consumption.
Other than the domesticated animals tended by the inhabitants, there is a healthy deer population in the vale. Wolves also range through the area and help to keep the deer from getting out of hand. Both black bears and grizzlies can be found here as well, along with a large number of small mammals such as rabbits and marmots.

Natural Resources

Fruit is the main resource here, although there are quite a number of farms as well. Those farms mainly grow wheat and potatoes in larger amounts, with a number of other vegetables grown mainly for the personal use of the inhabitants.
