Basiliath
Basiliath is the name of the principal planet in the Basiliathspace system, though that definition is hardly the most common among its inhabitants. It encompasses the known world from the point of view of all but the wisest of its mages (as well as planar travelers who have somehow found thelmseves on Basiliath). Due to the existence of The Veil, which shrouds it from outside influence, Basiliath is out of reach for most interplanar travelers and spelljamming ships. Even its door in Sigil, the center of the multiverse, is kept in a hard-to-reach location. This leaves Basiliath as a realm with little in the way of multiversal magic save for when the Veil itself is torn.
Throughout its history, Basiliath has seen countless so-called "Cleavings of the Veil", which have stranded several peoples on the planet. Humans are the notable exception; by all known accounts, humans are thought to have been present on Basiliath before the Veil first faltered. Whether they arose on Basiliath independently of their development on other worlds is unknown and likely unknowable. The world's very name is not a human invention. In the Elven language, Basiliath means "New Domain", a name given to it by the first elves to arrive on the planet.
Geographically, it is home to multiple continents, including The Hinterlands, Northwind, and Aşcaloş, among others.
