Dragonfire at the Order of the Mystic Lake

General Summary

Excerpt from Seir’s Little Black Book (Session 3/22/22): Penned in Seir’s Messy Hand

I examined a statue in front of the building. It was moss-covered and seemed to be a dragon, looking east towards the mansion.   There is a word carved above the entrance of the building, “Argenvostholt”. And, of course, as everyone approached the landing, the dragon statue opened its mouth and a cone of icy cold air came out of its mouth.   On the inside, the building felt like a tomb. There was a faded tapestry with a noble in armor on it. While we walked around, the shadows on the ceiling turned into wings and became a creature which hissed.   Letho talked to the dragon statue outside, introducing himself as a former disciple of the Mystic Lake. It did not respond.   I walked into a room on the first floor. It looks like it’s been ransacked. There is a sarcophagus along one wall, with intricate carvings along its lid. We decided to look through all of the stuff on the floor first, before looking inside.   Zin wandered into a room full of giant spiders, and I cast a spell to try and stun them, but only got a few of them as Zin ran deeper into the building. He found a big fancy dining room, with dragon motifs in the furniture. There was a glowing crystal chandelier hanging above the table.   Khaylen created a lock and used it to lock the door, shutting Zin inside with the spiders, though it didn’t last long. Letho busted through a wall and started attacking the spiders I had already stunned, despite my protestations. Zin managed to find another door into the main entryway and open another spider-fighting front.   We were able to dispatch the spiders handily. In the room, we find the desiccated remains of what appeared to be an adventuring party. They look like they have been there for a very long time. On the bodies, we find a wand, a silver dagger, and a torch in remarkably good condition that appears to be magic. I picked up the wand but couldn’t figure out what it was, exactly. The bodies were probably left there hundreds of years ago, so it looks like the order of the mystic lake headquarters have been abandoned for a very long time.   It turns out that the sarcophagus seemed to have been converted into a wine cabinet. We approached a door to the north side of the castle, and as we did, one of the hearths erupted into fire, and it seemed to be alive. Letho, however, avoided aggressive action, trying to speak with it, though I wasn’t sure it could speak any language.   Then, it started speaking to Letho in draconic, telling him to go and restore the light to the fallen members of the order. Then, it disappeared.   We go to the next room, where we discover a faded mural depicting shiny metallic dragons and colorful birds.
