Attempting to Fight the Revenants of the Order of the Mystic Lake

General Summary

Excerpt from Seir’s Little Black Book (Session 3/29/22): Penned in Seir’s Messy Hand

Letho informed me that the Order of the Mystic Lake has less to do with dragons now, and more with the Lady of the Mystic Lake, so the mural seems to be somewhat of a deviation.   People in the back discover a weird altar in a chapel with some bas-reliefs around it, as well as a shattered stained glass window in the back. Three armored figures kneeled around the altar. They were very still. The group chooses to move on from there.   Letho and I find an iron gate, locked, leading north of the castle. But the lock seems to be busted enough that it’s not worth it. There was a graveyard with filled and unfilled graves in it.   We all gathered up near the chapel, where Khaylen asked Letho to speak to the figures in there. He just ran in there and started shouting them some greetings in draconic. The figures got up and started to look at him, deathly pale. It pointed a sword at him, called him a creature of darkness, and told him to leave. Before really giving him an opportunity, though, it ran up and attacked him.   For some protection, O animated the dead bodies of the adventurer trio that we saw earlier, asking them to protect her. The attacking creatures looked at her with intense hatred.   Zin busted through a window to get outside and reposition himself. The door he stood outside of was barred from the inside, though.   I tried to reason with the attacking creatures, telling them that we were there to cure Letho’s darkness, but it seemed to be only a momentary distraction. They also ignored my efforts at casting a spell to daze them. Letho tried to frighten them off, but they ignored him.   We tried to pour attacks into the creatures, but they don’t seem to have taken much damage. They also seemed to regenerate the damage we did to them. The fight didn’t seem to be doing terribly well for us. We put together a plan to try and light them on fire, as it seemed to slow their healing down. Zin grabbed a torch and started tagging them with it as he ran past, while the rest of us tried to pour hits into them faster than they could regenerate.   Eventually, we decided that we had to run, and managed to just barely make it, both Zin and Letho having gone unconscious (though I was able to heal Letho).   On our way out of the room, we busted into another room, which seemed to be full of barrels. Written on the barrels is the name and branding of some form of alcohol. We heard a loud voice and whimper in the back of the room. In the back, we found a wounded-looking dark elf. He said he was taking refuge here, and he seemed to be actually injured.   Apparently he was attacked by some of the forest golems, out on the road. He told us he was searching for someone named Arabelle, who went missing from his camp. He said that he was from the Vistani camp, and named Savid. We offered him some medicine and kind words, and told him we’d pick him up before leaving. And then we ended up sleeping in the castle, though under fear of the revenants coming after us.
