Splendid District (splendəd)
A posh part of the City that went through several decades of degradation but was restored in the early 21st Century. Most denizens cannot afford to live there.
It is the most populous district in Azza and the second-most densely populated area in Azza-Jono. It borders Shem Kepp, which is on the southern shore. It also adjoins Cyphon Rock, a contested bordertown without any Wall running through it.
In the first decades of the 21st century, Splendid has become a destination for hipsters, with concomitant gentrification, dramatic house price increases, and a decrease in housing affordability and availability. Since the 2010s, Splendid has devolved into a thriving hub of entrepreneurship, high technology start-up firms, postmodern art and design. The most extreme types of denizen can be found in Splendid, and it is sometimes thought of as the City in microcosm.
