Maugan-Ra , Lord of Darkness, The Dark Lord, Master of Shadows, Lord of Demons,
Maugan-Ra is one half of the twin deities of Light and Dark. These two brother deities forged the world, the heavens, the beasts and the races to occupy it. They sought to make a world of peace and harmony to rule over. The brothers poured an equal amount of their essence into what would become the spirit which resides in all humanoid creatures, and set them out into the world to forge themselves as a being of light or darkness. Maugan-Ra put darkness in their hearts, giving them the urge to fall to temptation. Many who give in to the darkness are called 'Dark Souls', and are considered the worst of the worst by society. Everyone recognises that by design, every soul has darkness in it and has the chance at redemption. But should an individual not seek redemption before their time comes, they will not ascend to the Heaven of light, but to the Underworld.
Religion
Maugan-Ra is a deity that is largely feared since the Great Demon War, where countless demons flooded the mortal realm from the Underworld led by Maugan-Ra's children; the Demon Lords. To openly worship Maugan-Ra is an invitation to be shunned by society, and opening yourself up to persecution and punishment by the Church of Light. Maugan-Ra is typically worshipped by necromancers, undead creatures and those who practise the dark arts. However, there is a small sect of people who follow the teachings of Maugan-Ra as obcure texts seemingly promise the chance of rebirth through reincarnation should you end up in the Underworld as a devote follower of the Dark Lord.The Underworld
The The Underworld is the afterlife of dark souls, where souls are sent to suffer for their sins during life. Tortured for eternity by demons who serve Maugan-Ra. It is said that the darkest souls that are sent to the Underworld are turned into demonic entities to serve the Dark Lord for all eternity. It is said that Maugan-Ra is rebuilding his army to invade the mortal realm and restart the Great Demon War once again.Physical Description
