Brancan Warrior

Thorbear Bjornson, known as the "Bear of Branca", was a human warrior who appeared in Azimuth Campaign One. He was an NPC played by M.B.
Thorbear was a member of the Brancan military near the end of the Fourth Age. He was one of the several warriors under the command of Aoth Stormwind. He participated in multiple battles of the Manslayer War.

Description

Appearance

Thorbear was a large and wild-looking human. His hair, moustache, and beard all blended together in a wild, brown-blonde mane. Over his eyes was a smear of warpaint. He wore thick and dark chainmail and over this was a large bear pelt draped over his shoulders. He wielded a curved steel axe.

Personality

Thorbear was known as a fierce warrior. He was stoic and quiet, rarely speaking or letting others speak for him. Despite his gruff appearance, based on the interactions from those close to him, Thorbear was seen as a trusted friend.

Biography

Background

In the late Fourth Age, Thorbear joined the Brancan military. He was a part of the same unit as Aoth Stormwind and Duvessa Nighthawk. At some point, the unit's commander, Sir Baric Nimir, gave command to Aoth.
At the start of the Manslayer War, the armies of Passaro the Manslayer invaded Branca from the east. The Brancan army met Passaro's forces in the Eastern Foothills at the battle known as the Invasion of the Eastern Foothills.
This engagement was a decisive loss for Branca, and the Brancan army was scattered and Aoth's unit was shattered. Thorbear fought fiercely against the Parthenian forces, which allowed some of the scattered unit to survive. However, most of the members under Aoth's command were killed.
Though unknown to Aoth at this time, Thorbear survived the battle.

Campaign One: Zenethian Heroes

After the Invasion of the Eastern Foothills, Thorbear and the other survivors were scattered. Eventually, Thorbear was able to regroup with Duvessa Nighthawk and Sir Baric Nimir.
In late 4A 996, when the Zenethian Heroes later attended King Alphonse Brancana's war council, Aoth was reunited with Thorbear and Sir Baric Nimir. As the forces of the combined armies marched eastward, Aoth walked with his former unit.
Thorbear participated in the ending battles of the Manslayer War, including the Battle of the Bay of Shipwrecks and the Battle of the Iron Marshes. During the battles, Thorbear killed many warriors of Parthenia.

Relationships

Aoth Stormwind

During his time in the Brancan miltiary, Thorbear served under his commander, Sir Baric Nimir, and his unit captain, Aoth Stormwind. The unit was destroyed along with much of the Brancan military during Passaro the Manslayer's attack on Branca , leaving Aoth, Sir Baric, Duvessa, and Thorbear as the only known survivors.
