Human

Humans are one of the most common races found on Azimuth. They are known for their ambition and tenacity.

Description

Appearance

Humans are more physically diverse than other common races. There is no typical human. Human skin shades range from nearly black to very pale, and their hair is typically either black, brown, blonde, or red, with various textures such as curly, kinky, or straight. A lot of humans have a dash of nonhuman blood, revealing hints of elf, orc, or other lineages.

Statistics

An individual can stand from 5 feet to a little over 6 feet tall and weigh from 125 to 250 pounds.   Humans reach adulthood in their late teens and live less than a century.

History

Early history and supposed creation

The first humans are said to have been made during the First Age: The Age of Creations, though it is unknown which of those varied first gods may have done so. The humans were given Lake Gimor and its holy waters, and with this place to grow their civilization, they began to spread wide in the world.

Additional History

As the world entered the Third Age: The Age of Zenethia, humans covered the breadth of the Gimora continent, and they would continue to grow and expand farther still, reaching the southern lands and Aluvotar.   The Great War brought devastation to the human lands. The Kingdom of Gimora was sundered and swathes of the lands were ripped apart or sent into the seas of Azimuth. Many smaller kingdoms were birthed from this loss, and as humans are always apt to do, they adapted to this change and continued to flourish where the dwarves and elves still recovered.   Now, humans are a common sight across Azimuth, from tundra to desert to plains. There are several human dominant kingdoms in Azimuth, namely Branca, the Kingdom of the South, Burland, the Kingdom of the North, Konenbur, the Theocracy of the Sea, and the Santeem Republic.

Society

Humans are the most adaptable and ambitious among the common races. They have widely varying tastes, morals, and customs in the many different lands where they have settled. An individual human might have a relatively short lifespan, but a human nation or culture preserves traditions with origins far beyond the reach of any single human's memory. They live fully in the present, making them well suited to the adventuring life, but they also plan for the future, striving to leave a lasting legacy. Individually and as a group, humans are adaptable opportunists, and they stay alert to changing political and social dynamics. They can grow to do any job and complete any task, given the time and dedication to do so.   Though they congregate in cities large and small, some cultures, especially those in the Wild Lands, are tribal and wandering in their customs. Truly, humans are vast and varied in the way their peoples live out their lives. Although some humans can be xenophobic, in general their societies are inclusive. Human lands welcome large numbers of nonhumans compared to the proportion of humans who live in nonhuman lands.   Perhaps it is because of their shorter lives that they strive to achieve as much as they can in the years they are given. Or maybe they feel they have something to prove to the elder races. Whatever drives them. Humans are the innovators, the achievers, and the pioneers of the world.

Humans in Gimora Major

There are two human dominated kingdoms in the lands of Gimora Major: Branca, the Kingdom of the South, and Burland, the Kingdom of the North.

Humans in Gimora Minor

In Gimora Minor is the human dominated culture of Konenbur, the Theocracy of the Sea. In addition, several of the wandering tribes of the Wild Lands are primarily human. A feudal society also exists on Medal Island, which claims descent from the old lineage of Gardenbur.

Humans in Haradren Gaer Arnad

With the lands of Soretta moving away from the xenophobic policies of previous ages, humans are a common sight in the western half of Haradren Gaer Arnad, especially in port cities. The lands of Sinatold have also transferred ownership to Konenbur, the Theocracy of the Sea, after the Invasion of Sinatold.

Humans in Tarteria

The diverse cities along the Orc Highway see many traders, adventurers, and thrill-seekers from Gimora. The Santeem Republic especially has many trade vessels that visit the Queendom of Keeleon’s northern shores, and some Santeemites feel they may make amends for their country’s actions against the orcs in the previous age and travel here to lend what aid they can or to escape their home governments.

Humans in Northwest Seas

The human dominated Santeem Republic of Aluvotar is the dominant society in the Northwest Seas region of Azimuth. In addition, several coastal cities in the Northwest Seas can be found, such as Baron's Mill.

Humans in Parthenia

With the Parthenian Federation becoming a recognized entity, humans are becoming a more common sight in the port settlements near to the Bay of Shipwrecks.
