Background
King Alphonse Brancana was the ruler of Branca, the Kingdom of the South. His family line had held dominion over these lands for centuries.Campaign One: The Zenethian Heroes
In 4A 995, Passaro the Manslayer and his armies attacked Branca, the Kingdom of the South, from the east. The armies of Branca were defeated and scattered. Shortly after 24 Felim 4A 995, King Alphonse Brancana was mustering his generals and scouts after the destruction of his armies. He was approached by the Zenethian Children after the fled Hometown. King Brancana knew of the prophecy of their births and offered to aid. He provided the Children with a number of missives signed by his hand asking for military aid against Passaro. He tasked the Children with delivering these missives to the leaders of foreign lands. These missives would eventually be delivered to the leaders of Burland, Soretta, Keeleon, and Endor. King Brancana also provided the Zenethian Children with a cart and a donkey. This donkey was a disguised form of Chedae, which King Brancana did not have knowledge of. While the Zenethian Heroes continued on their quest, from after the attack on Branca until late 4A 996, King Brancana gathered his forces and strengthened his armies and navy. Under his command, any remaining forces of Passaro present in Branca were expelled. In late 4A 996, a war council was convened at the Brancan capital. King Brancana led this council and discussed the strategy for defeating Passaro with representatives and leaders of the gathered nations. The Heroes attended as well. Afterwards, the allied armies marched eastward to the coast of the Wild Lands. King Brancana personally led his forces to the coast. On the coast, King Branca boarded the Occidentalis along with the Zenethian Heroes. In the Parthenian Bay, the king participated in the Battle of the Bay of Shipwrecks alongside the rest of the allied navy. The Occidentalis and the Falcon broke through the Parthenian lines and landed on the coast of the Iron Marshes. After landing, King Brancana joined the Heroes to the ruins of Gardenbur. They spent a night in a destroyed cathedral and were attacked in the night by a spirit of some kind and King Brancana was severely wounded. There was a corruptive element to the wound and King Brancana's health began to deteriorate. He was unable to further accompany the Heroes to battle against Passaro. Before they left, the king gave his final order to the Heroes, saying, "Cut the head from the snake." The king was left in the care of Ringer, a gnoll defected from Passaro, and they retreated back to the coast to the rest of the allied army. It is unknown if King Brancana participated in the Battle of the Iron Marshes or if his wounds prevented him from doing so. In either case, the battle was won and the Heroes defeated Passaro, ending the Manslayer War.The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
After the war, King Brancana returned to Branca and continued his rule. Under his watch the kingdom began its recovery. Aoth Stormwind returned to the service of the king, and Aoth would found the Brancana Rangers. While King Brancana continued his rule and was generally well thought of, the wound that he had sustained in Gardenbur never properly healed. Around a decade after the start of the Fifth Age, King Alphonse Brancana died due to complications from his wound. He was succeeded by his son who claimed the throne after his death. In his will, King Brancana left tracks of land to Aoth Stormwind in the area of Kendell.Relationships
