Campaign 1 NPCs

The histories of the Age of Shadow focus largely on the adventures and efforts of the Zenethian Heroes across Azimuth. They were legendary figures who applied their skills to the changing of the world around them. However, they were not alone in their efforts. Many allies and adversaries were entwined in the Tarterian War and the Manslayer War, and their influences as well have echoed across the centuries.  

Black Phillip, General of the Manslayer

When Passaro the Manslayer conquered the bestial races of Parthenia, he did so by empowering and enabling the subjugation of the others by the minotaurs. The leader of the minotaurs, Black Phillip, became Passaro's head general and bodyguard.   Black Phillip was a major threat to the Zenethian Heroes and had direct interactions with Rath and Petra. He was killed in battle at the Citadel of Bronze by Johanna, who claimed his head as a trophy.

Chedae, The Heaven's Light

Chedae, known by the title The Heaven's Light, is the Dragon Deity of Zenethia, the Plane of Light.   For a long time, she was disguised as the Zenethian Heroes' donkey. She was a consistent presence and seen very fondly among them. After the death of Zenthai, The Dragon King, she revealed herself and participated in the last battles of the Manslayer War before ascending to be the next Dragon of Zenethia.

Esturk, The World's End

Esturk, known by the title The World's End, is the Dragon Deity of Nadiria, the Plane of Darkness.   He instigated the Tarterian War and opposed the Zenethian Heroes. He corrupted Rath and formed the Dark Champions. In their final fight, Esturk killed Zenthai, The Dragon King.

High King Thorik Oathenhammer

High King Thorik Oathenhammer is the monarch of Endor, the First Mountain, and High King of all Endor. This is a title he has held since before the time of the Zenethian Heroes, and during their journey he was their ally.   He was a quick ally to the Zenethian Heroes and was directly involved with Johanna and Aoth. He provided refuge for the orcs fleeing Santeem and pledged his armies to assist in the Manslayer War.

King Alphonse Brancana

King Alphonse Brancana was the monarch of Branca during the time of the Zenethian Heroes. He was the first ally of the Zenethian Children and the rallying force of the nations that banded together to fight the forces of Parthenia during the Manslayer War.   He became a strong ally to Aoth, however he would die from complications from the wounds he received during the war.

Nerull, The Scythe-Bearer

Nerull, known by the title The Scythe-Bearer, is the Dragon Deity of Stygia, the Plane of Death.   Nerull was the patron Dragon of Leo, who communed regularly with Nerull over the journey of the Zenethian Heroes.

Princess Alena

Alena was a princess of the Kingdom of Keeleon during the time of the Zenethian Heroes at the end of the Fourth Age. She was the last known survivor of the royal family of Keeleon after the destruction of the capital during the Tarterian War.   She was a resilient leader and ally of the Zenethian Heroes. Despite the damage to her lands, she provided aid during the Manslayer War.

Passaro the Manslayer

Passaro was the instigator of the Manslayer War and the cause of much death and destruction in the late Fourth Age in the lands of Parthenia, Branca, and Konenbur.   He was a constant threat and antagonist for the Zenethian Heroes as he worked to collect the divine blood of the Zenethian Children. He fought them at the Citadel of Bronze where he was killed.

Sacred Guardian Quarivon

Quarivon is a well respected member of the Sacred Guardians sworn to protect the World Tree. In the Fourth Age, they were responsible for the arrest of the Zenethian Heroes.   During the ending events of the Manslayer War, Quarivon led the detachment of elven forces and participated in the final battles.

Steverossa, the Illithid

Steverossa was involved in the events of the Manslayer War in the late Fourth Age. He allied himself with Passaro the Manslayer and worked to achieve his goals.   Steverossa was killed by the Zenethian Heroes in the Mausoleum of Dwarf Lords, however his soul would be claimed later by Esturk, The World's End, by using Rath to summon him.

Thorbear Bjornson, the Bear of Branca

Thorbear was a member of Aoth Stormwind's unit in the Brancan military, which was destroyed in the opening battles of the Manslayer War. Thorbear rejoined Aoth at King Alphonse Brancana's war council and participated in the final battles of the war.

The Zenethian Champions

During the Great War, Zenthai, The Dragon King, chose six Champions from the races of Azimuth. With their strength and will to aid his own, Zenthai and his Champions brought the fight to Esturk's forces.   Each of the six Champions interacted with the Zenethian Children during their journey.

Zenthai, The Dragon King

Zenthai, known by the title The Dragon King, was the former Dragon Deity of Zenethia, the Plane of Light, before his death in battle against Esturk, The World's End.   Zenthai was the divine parent of the Zenethian Children and set them on their journey to gather the Zenethian Items. He reforged these into their new forms for the Heroes, and fought against Esturk alongside them.
 
 

Agatha

Agatha was a seer and royal retainer of Princess Alena, daughter of the Last Orc King. In Port Haville, the Heroes rescued Agatha and she directed them to the location of Ruin's Temple. The Heroes brought her south to Princess Alena before she fled Tarteria.  

Boardud

Boardud met Rath in the Grand Bazaar, where he helped him craft the Shadewolf Armor. Rath convinced Boardud to accompany the Zenethian Heroes on the rest of their journey as well as follow him in Azimuth after the end of the Fourth Age.  

Corthag

Corthag impersonated Princess Alena in the orc prison camp in Santeem, until he was discovered by Grupe. After being brought to Endor, the First Mountain, as a refugee, he joined Princess Alena's forces that attended the Brancan War Council.  

Crown Prince Hector of Burland

Prince Hector of Burland was kidnapped by a hag and held in Loch Tower as part of Passaro the Manslayer's search for the Zenethian Children. The Children rescued him and the other children being held and returned him to Bhaile-Burmòr.  

Duvessa Nighthawk

Duvessa was a member of Aoth Stormwind's unit in the Brancan military, which was destroyed in the opening battles of the Manslayer War. Duvessa rejoined Aoth in the finals of the Endor Tournaments and would participate in the final battles of the war.  

Goren

Goren was an orc priest in Frenor who went into hiding after anti-orc laws were put in place in Santeem. Several of the Heroes met him in Frenor. He was a member of a resistance movement against the corrupt chancellor.  

Graank

Graank was rescued by the Zenethian Children from a dilapidated abbey in Branca. He returned to his father's shop, Grank's Ten-Foot Pole Emporium, and later assisted the Children with crossing the Dry River Desert.  

Karth Wheatblood

Karth was the mayor of Tempe and the one who exiled Leo before he joined the Heroes. Karth was the father of Tillius, Leo's lover. Karth was in favor of the anti-orc laws in place in Santeem at the time, and was sacrificing citizens to the goblins that were terrorizing Tempe to appease them.  

Khader

Khader was an old priest in the Grand Bazaar who was visited by Rath. With his help, Rath summoned the soul of Steverossa before the ritual was taken over by Esturk, The World's End. Rath killed him to prevent him from alerting the guards.  

King of Burland

The King of Burland was distraught from the kidnapping of his son and would not see the Zenethian Children when they first arrived. At the Children rescued Prince Hector, he promised his aid to King Alphonse Brancana and told the Children the supposed location of the Shrine of Breaking Waves.  

Leader-Elect Saelerain Laminafond

Saelerain Laminafond met the Heroes when they first arrived in Haradren Gaer Arnad, where he wlecomed them and told them of the laws of the land. After the Heroes violated these laws and entered the valley of the World Tree, he intended to imprison them but was convinced by Aoth Stormwind to banish them instead so they could completed their journey.  

Mugarod and Sharn

Mugarod and Sharn were two orcs held at the prison camp in Santeem. They helped Grupe after he infiltrated the camp, and they were taken to Endor, the First Mountain, after they were released. They named their daughter Grupina in honor of Grupe's help.  

Ringer, the Flind

Ringer was on the Falcon when Petra D'Silva joined it after pretending to defect to Parthenia. Ringer assisted with the mutiny that took the ship. Before the Battle of the Iron Marshes, Ringer convinced the gnoll forces to abandon the field, leading to a major victory for the allies.  

Rose

Rose was the lover of Passaro the Manslayer. It was said she cried ruby tears, and she was killed by bandits at Rosaville. This was the turning point for Passaro who declared his intent to destroy the races of humans, elves, and dwarves, which would ultimately lead to the Manslayer War.  

Sir Kenneth Greenskin

Sir Kenneth Greenskin was a commander from Konenbur. He led the Konenbur forces during the Manslayer War and participated in the Brancan War Council. He was killed in the Battle of the Iron Marshes.  

Sir Ragnar McRyan

Sir Ragnar McRyan was the commander in charge in Burland when the Zenethian Children delivered King Brancana's missive. He assisted the Children while the king was too distraught, and directed Gruknock, Captain of Burland, to join them. Later on, Ragnar attended the Brancan War Council as the leader of the Burland forces.  

Tillius

Tillius was Leo's lover from their hometown of Tempe. He was the mayor's son, and the mayor did not approve of their relationship and banished Leo. Tillius was killed by the goblins that terrorized the town, and his remains were later turned to gold and incorporated into an eternal golem by Nerull, The Scythe-Bearer.
