Hag of the Kumbon Forest
Mewling Mamie Millie was a green hag who appeared in Azimuth Anthology: Alarming Farming Festival 3. She was an NPC played by M.B.
She was a hag seeking revenge against Borga Gorehide for killing her catoplebas. After learning about the planar portal beneath Bridon Tillage, she planned to use it for her own purposes. However, she was killed by the Turnip Tillers before she could enact her plans.
Description
Appearance
As a hag, Mamie Millie appeared as a withered, old woman with blotchy green skin. She had many warts and wrinkles around a disproportioned face with sharp features and an angled nose. Her back was hunched, and her arms were long, with skinny, bony fingers. Her hair was, long, wild, and ghostly white. On a thin rope around her neck were held the skinned bodies of a dozen rats hanging by the tail. This hung over a ragged and dirty shawl and cloak, which left rusty bloodstains in a swath on her distended stomach.Personality
Mamie Millie displayed a preference for strange monstrosities and dangerous creatures, including a catoplebas and roving maulers. It is unclear if she created these creatures herself through foul magic or some other means. She seemed to care for these creatures in some way, referring to them with affectionate names. She was also driven to hatred and anger when her creatures were threatened or hurt. She was focused on revenge and retribution, which was seen as she focused on causing pain and suffering on Borga Gorehide. Though she was clever and skilled with curses, she was very arrogant and viewed others as inferior. This was seen when she seemed to ignore any suspicions from the Turnip Tillers about her illusions, seemingly thinking her illusions were infallible. Mamie Millie's voice was shrill and harsh, and she was prone to bouts of bubbling laughter and insulting language.Biography
Background
It is unknown where Mamie Millies' den was located prior to the Kumbon Forest. Based on the use of hallucinogenic herbs and the presence of a catoplebas at Borga's Homestead, Mamie Millie may have resided in a marsh or swamp before reaching the Kumbon Forest. Mamie Millie may have interacted with The Hermit, as she seemed to know about him and referred to him as "that bastard druid in the west". At some point before 19 Adroth 5A 342, Mamie Millie approached Kuad as he traveled through the forest seeking a cure for his sick daughter. Mamie Millie offered a contract to cure his daughter, at the cost of never being able to see or speak of her again. In trade, Mamie Millie also gifted Kuad an orcish bull named after his daughter, to further cause suffering to the old orc. At some point, a catoplebas owned by Mamie Millie wandered into Borga's Homestead. Borga successfully killed the monster, and she would use its bones as decorations and tools in her home. After this, Mamie Millie swore revenge against Borga. After Borga left her home and joined the rest of the Turnip Tillers, Mamie Millie came to Borga's homestead and desecrated it. The cabin and shed were ransacked and the catoplebas bones were cursed. Several traps were set, including several construct creatures and a Warding Glyph spell. An illusion cast over the homestead made it appear to be untouched.Azimuth Anthology: Alarming Farming Festival 3
Overnight on 27 Sedaena 5A 351, the Turnip Tillers had nightmares caused by hallucinogenic herbs hidden in Borga's fireplace. Mamie Millie was able to see these nightmares and learn about the groups' actions in Bridon Tillage and the Underdark. The next day on 28 Sedaena 5A 351, the Turnip TIllers awoke and battled against the constructs left there by Mamie Millie. Afterwards, as the group started to gather the cursed catoplebas bones, Mamie Millie disguised herself as Godsguard Ankhan and approached the homestead. As Ankhan, she tried to convince the group that she was the gosguard and could help them. She feigned investigating the area and blamed the curse on Borga's actions, saying, “This does all seem to be coming back to you.” She continued, “It does seem like this is your fault.” After she suggested they try bloodletting, sacrifices, or other ways to harm Borga, the party was suspicious. Duggg Duddins could tell the platinum parts of the disguise were not quite right, and he cast a spell. His wild magic surged and he glowed with extreme light, which melted Mamie Millie's disguise away. With the disguise broken, Mamie Millie let out a loud, echoing mewling. In a puff of stinking magic, she cast a Resilient Sphere and was encased in a bubble of force. In response to her call, her Roving Maulers came and attacked the Turnip Tillers. Mamie Millie directed the maulers' attacks and taunted Borga, saying, “I’ll get my revenge on you, murderer! You killed my sweet, precious catoplebas, so I’ll kill you and wear your jaw!” During the fighting, she mocked the Turnip Tillers until all of the maulers were killed. Knowing her maulers were defeated, she turned invisible, but Duggg was able to show she was still trapped within the ball of force. Before the spell ended, the group gathered around her. Mamie Millie tried to tempt the group with a way to seal the Underdark portal or a way to find the Hermit, but the party ignored her words. When the Resilient Sphere spell ended, the Turnip Tillers all attacked and killed her. After, Borga dragged Mamie Millie’s corpse to the pile of catoplebas bones and set it all on fire. After her death, it appeared that spell effects she had been responsible for quickly fadedCampaign Two: Lightbringers
