Borga's Homestead

Borga's Homestead is a small cottage in the western portion of the Kumbon Forest located in the Northern Orcish Plains of Tarteria. It is the home of Borga Gorehide, who built the homestead.

Description

Borga's Homestead is located in the western side of the Kumbon Forest. It was built within a small clearing of violet bell blossom jacaranda trees, and consists of a cabin, small barn, outhouse, and shed.   The cabin is constructed of jacaranda tree wood, giving it a pale gray color. Parts of the seams and connections have been padded or sealed with patches of mud and moss. It has a thatched hay roof that leads low enough for goats to climb onto. The building has two windows and a door leading to the clearing. There are planter beds under the window sills and on either side of the doorway. A lantern hangs on the wall outside the door, and animal skulls decorate the exterior walls.   Previously, a scarecrow made of branches and leather strips sat on the roof and a catoplebas rib bone windchime hung on the outside of the cabin.   Inside the cabin was a single room home. It contained a single cot, a fireplace for heating and cooking, and a separate linen closet. Borga kept shelves of preserved and salted foods, gathered materials, and a few books about homesteading. Everything was clearly labeled and had a specific spot.   The barn was a small, haphazard structure used for Borga's many goats. The goats were free ranging, and there was a triangle instrument on the barn used to call the goats for meals. Bundles of dried grasses from teh plains were kept inside the barn, along with various tools and resources.   Previously, a catoplebas skull hung above the barn door.   The outhose was small and had a crescent moon on the door and a hanger to place a lantern. There was also a small toolshed, and a pile of chopped lumber to one side of the clearing.

Ransacked

When Borga's Homestead was ransacked by Mewling Mamie Millie in 5A 351, much of the area was damaged and desecated.   Everything became covered with dirt, dust, and grime. Footprints were left all throughout the property and the clearing. Broken branches and piles of foliage became desecrated and rotten, along with the hay stores in the barn. Borga's possessions, items, and furniture were moved and smashed. The door and window locks were broken. All throughout the clearing was a pungent, overpowering scent of rot and stagnant water.   After the Turnip Tillers defeated Mamie Millie, they spent time clearing most of the grime and repairing some of the damage before leaving.

History

The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
At some point, Borga Gorehide came to the Kumbon Forest and constructed a homestead in a clearing in the western half of the forest.   While Borga lived here, a catoplebas owned by Mewling Mamie Millie wandered into Borga's homestead. Borga successfully killed the monster, and she used its bones as decorations and tools in her home.   At some point, Borga secured and left her home, and she joined the rest of the Turnip Tillers. After this, Mamie Millie came to Borga's homestead and cursed it. The cabin and shed were ransacked and several traps were set, including several construct creatures and a Warding Glyph spell. An illusion cast over the homestead made it appear to be untouched.   5A 351
On 27 Sedaena 5A 351, Borga led the Turnip Tillers to her homestead while they traveled through the forest. She opened her home to them, and the group rested. Overnight, the group had strange nightmares, caused by hallucinogenic herbs they had inadvertantly burned.   On 28 Sedaena 5A 351, they awoke to find that an illusion on the area had been removed. They saw the abundant grime and that Borga's home had been ransacked. The Turnip Tillers were attacked by several constructs as they determined the source of the foul stench seemed to be coming from the catoplebas bones around Borga's home.   After they gathered the bones together, Mamie Millie arrived disguised as Godsguard Ankhan. She tried to convince the Turnip Tillers she could help them and that the curse was Borga's fault. Suspicous, the group revealed Mamie Millie's illusion. The hag protected herself with a Resilient Sphere spell and summoned several roving maulers that attacked the group. The Tunip Tillers fought and killed all the maulers, then defeated the hag.   Afterwards, the group helped Borga repair and clean up her homestead before they continued travelling northwest towards Porgorag.
