Bo'estada

Summary

Bo'estada, Elven for 'unwavering bow', is an ancient Elven artefact that has existed as long as records exist. Over the years, there have been few conflicts that have called the High Elves into action, but when they have, the leader of their elite archers wields Bo'estada.

Appearance

Made of a pale, almost-white, wood, the bow is relatively simple in its overall concept, with intricate smooth and flowing detailing. Bo'estada is classed as a longbow and reportedly capable of making shots that exceed the regular capabilities of its regular brethren.

History

It is assumed it was created during the Age of Darkness, prior to the Purge of Knowledge, but no-one knows for sure. The wielder at the turn of the age was Corlith Faseai, a recorded detail from the years immediately following, into the Age of Discovery, as High Elves of Irallien ventured into the surrounding area to ensure their city's safety. The usage of Bo'estada following that was minimal and sporadic, until The Cataclysm War, whereupon the leader of the Vol'akurai, the Elves' elite archers, took ownership of the bow. Castion Dalamin remained the wielder of the bow for the duration of the conflict, and survived. Upon the end of the conflict, Dalamin return the bow back into the protection of the High Council.

Present

Bo'estada's location is closely guarded secret. The details are only known by a few within the High Council of Irallien, and even then, not all of them. The King and the Dalagar family are privy to this fact, however. The King, whose predecessor ordered the construction of the secret wing of the palace in which it now resides, and Vaelen Dalagar, as the descendant of Valtir Dalagar, who was the architect for the project.   Bo'estada is housed in a shared display (perhaps ironically, since the room is hidden) with Heartseeker, another artefact wielded by a High Elf during the Cataclysm War. Heartseeker, being a crossbow, and not a generally accepted weapon for High Elven culture, was at least respected to be protected in the same manner as Bo'estada and thus a special wing was created for both artefacts together.
