Lleuadalas Academy

If you have ever wondered if you are gifted in the magic arts, then attend the Academy of the Silver City. You'll find the answer to your question there soon enough.
— Sanev Vensandoral, Archmage
The Lleuadalas Academy Considered the most prestigious educational institution in the Queendom of Lunaria. It is located along the outskirts of the Silver City of Luna. Lleuadalas is one of the great institutes of learning and research on the continent. Its schools of magic are a particularly noteworthy curriculum being the part that has made the Academy a name known to aspiring mages across the continent.

We are certainly not lacking for choice at Lleuadalas, apart from the absence of one particular kind of magic.
— Oxim Glassleaf, Professor of Conjuration

Schools of Magic

The Lleuadalas Academy offers coursework in seven magical schools. Each school specializes in developing talents for one of the eight fundamental schools of magics, only seven of which are taught at the academy. Necromancy is prohibited and as such does not have a school dedicated to that particular kind of magic.   Each school of magic has its own dedicated campus located along the city outskirts forming the seven campuses of the academy. A student can focus their talents in a particular school or attend a combination of schools. Those who are particularly adept or driven can take classes in all seven campuses.   School of Abjuration A school nurtures the art of casting protective spells. This school is important in the training of Shield Custodians, those who maintain the protective fields generated by a Schutz Crystal.   School of Conjuration Many believe that the magical art of conjuring is about making things appear from nothing. However, every student of this art would strongly disagree that items are conjured from mere nothingness. The idea is that everything is derived from something from somewhere even if both are not perceptible to the senses. Regardless of where things ultimately come from, having a means to procure much needed tools at times of great need can be an invaluable skill to learn especially in a world dominated by the presence of wild magic.   School of Evocation A school dedicated to the study of creating elemental effects for a variety of purposes. From starting a campfire to creating a lighting strike to freezing a drink on a hot summer day. This school of magic can find many uses in the military. Mages who are expertly trained in this art can effectively provide artillery support- consisting of powerful spells of fire, lighting, or ice- for an advancing front line.   School of Divination This is the school that trains in the magical art of interpretation and prediction. To learn secrets or to cut through deceptions and trickery. To locate hidden or long lost items. This school of magic is all about finding and learning things the usual senses cannot perceive.   This school is considered the friendly rival of the School of Illusion.   School of Transmutation The art of turning a thing from one form to another. Students in this school become eminently familiar with the concept of change. That is, that matter and energy are not static and unchanging. These spells learned here can be important in Lunarian society when one thing needs to become something else if only for a limited time. This helps to reduce waste that would otherwise accumulate.   School of Illusion The art of magical trickery and deception. Students in this school delight in what is there and what is not there. That the senses do not always discern the truth of a matter, and that everyone can be fooled. The skills learned in this school is considered valuable to the Lunarians for defensive purposes.   This school is considered a friendly rival with the School of Divination.   School of Enchantment To imbue some item with a useful magic is a much sought after art across the continent, particularly in places like Luna and Centrum. The skills and knowledge learned here have a variety of uses for Lunarian society. Enchantments can make a the seed of an apple tree more potent, the armor of a warrior stronger, or even to endow a set of shoes with greater speed.

Research Initiatives

The development of students is important to any educational institution, but this learning is enhanced when paired with leading research as the Lleuadalas Academy so aptly demonstrates. Research often has a focus on the study of ancient artifacts remnants in order to glean their lost knowledge and to one day reintroduce it into society. The body of research at the lleuadalas Academy forms one of the largest libraries on the continent. Archivists from The Archivists Guild often visit this valuable source of knowledge.   It is said that the best researchers from lleuadalas Academy are quickly recruited to work in the secretive Pleiades Laboratory.

The Great Telescope

The Lleuadalas Academy is also the site of an observatory featuring a large telescope. This telescope has been used to discern many features of the moon in hitherto unheard of detail. The Queen herself will visit this observatory to view the heavens with the telescope.

A Case for Necromancy

There is a growing segment of voices supporting the inclusion of the magic school of necromancy in the academy's catalogue. The impending war with the Kingdom of Helia now on the horizon, many say that the ability to bring back the dead, or to summon undead, could give Lunaria a decisive advantage in the battles to come.   These voices are still the minority, however, as Lunarians at large are fearful or even distrustful of this kind of magic. Some suspect that this sentiment may be intentionally stoked by agents from the Xeta Magocracy far to the east, a land known for its prolific use of necromancy to the disapproval of their neighbors.

I've been to that library. I think there is more there than most realize. - Archivist Savitri

I remember my time at the lleuadalas Academy. The training was difficult, but worthwhile. What I learned there has saved my life more than once.
— From the journal of Lorekeeper Gwelunis Istril
This is great! I love the conflict over Necromancy and how, despite being a moral slippery slope, it would be used for a life-saving purpose in defending Lunaria.
