Anestri'for

A world unto itself, there's life here beyond your wildest imaginings.

Overview

Anestri'for, perhaps more commonly known as "The Great Jungle," hosts uncountable varieties of flora and fauna. Even the water is far fuller of life than anywhere else. Many who venture there often return with a seemingly endless supply of tales and descriptions of the world they witnessed and the creatures they saw within. No doubt many such tales are merely inspired and are the result of imaginations running amok.   Some say that the entire ecosystem is beholden to a singular will; a will that is present in every root and leaf. Perhaps this will has a source that is hidden somewhere within the dense expanse of tree and vine. Another curious theory some of subscribed to is that the sources of the rain forest's vast spectrum of life resides in the seven sky islands floating above the dense green canopy of this realm. There has yet to be confirmation for either hypotheses.
If you, dear reader, can discover any truth to these tales I will gladly preserve your deed in writing.

Overgrown Ruins

Several ancient ruins have been found within this jungle. Many believe there are more to be found hiding within the tangle of leaves, roots and vines. No explorer has yet returned from such expeditions. No one is surprised, many of the creatures that live in Anestri'for, including insects, are on record as being particularly deadly. Even the weather is not to be underestimated. It rains almost constantly during the continent's summer, and it is never dry.   Take great care in the storage of perishables, care in the preservation of sword and armor, and, perhaps most importantly, ensure you have materials on hand to treat foot fungus. While this part of the world seemingly invites all manner of life, it is not for the faint of heart.

Geography

Terrain

The Anestri'for is a vast expanse of trees, vines, rivers, and even lakes. The jungle stretches from Silva's eastern coast to its western coast. Depending on where you draw the line, the forest could even be said to extend as far as Planus. The area is not flat either as there are many hills and several mountains smoothed over by the constant cycle of rain. The area is also home to several karst areas, one of which was visited by Captain Amaya Quickwind during her worldwide voyage. The The Archivists Guild's expedition to the continent also managed to visit one of these areas. These karst areas are home to high winds and dangerous rock falls.

Weather

The Anestri'for is not called a rainforest for nothing, it practically rains every day during the summer months. The heaviness of the rains will vary, from a light drizzle most of the time to unbelievably immense downpours during a few weeks out of the year. Humidity is a defining feature of this forest, much to the discomfort of any traveler who has prepared poorly. One will hardly feel any wind as they walk through the dense vegetation of the forest on the calmer days of the year. Snow is an unknown in this region as temperatures range from hot in the summer months to less hot in the winter months.

Fauna & Flora

This big rain forest has lots of animals and insects and birds and fish.     This needs to be a longer entry, Bob.

It is on my to do list. Don't worry about it.
- Archivist Bob
It has been three months, Bob. I can't believe I wasted the ink just to write this note.

    Travel Note(s) from the Archivists:

Too many bugs. I don't even want to know how many diseases I was fighting off after returning from there. The birds were surprisingly pleasant creatures though. Sometimes aggressive, yes, but those encounters were few and far between. The rivers and lakes never disappointed us in their varieties of fish. The piranhas were always bothersome though. Oh, and there are spiders. Lots of spiders. Because of course there would be. Snakes too. It is a small miracle that we ever got out of that place alive. ,Archivist Theta   Don't forget about the bed bug. That was a big one! Ugly too. ,Archivist Bob   Bob, we agreed to never talk about the bed bug. Ever. ,Archivist Taenya
