Ildonian Far Barren Coasts
Just to the West of the Ildonian Far Plains and the Ildonian Far Forest there is a coastal lowlands and peninsula. Descending on a rarely trodden path from the forest the vibrant trees begin to give way to rotting copses, toppled trunks with oily exposed root-balls, slightly salty puddles and pools polka-dot the land. An unpleasant smell of metallic stiffing rot hangs in the humid air. Decaying remnants of stone and wood structures long forgotten crop up throughout the landscape seemingly everlasting picket fences and scarecrows indicate abandoned farmland homes. Upon inspection memorabilia of old human settlements can be found along with undead dangers and signs of magical water elemental corruption.
The elves and halflings of the Eastern peninsula have heard all sorts of rumors and myths about the barrens. Most believe the land to be cursed by ancient and unknown magics. Some think it was a dragon's spite, others believe it was a rift to another plane, while still others think the creator gods themselves cursed the land and human settlers ignored the warnings. No one has found much reason to travel there unless they need to get beyond into the next continent, they seek history, or they seek clues to older magics from the foundation of the world.
The coastline to the south of this region is also largely abandoned by civilization as it is home to a coven of hags who thrive on or perpetuate the curse on these lands. Some think they work towards darker goals and spread their misery into the surrounding lands and ocean.
If The Blossoms of Ildonia hear rumors of this place and the unique corruption of its shores they seem enthralled but would not be able to explain why. Perhaps more about their unknown roots could be discovered here?
