Gemstones are well known source of power in  Avaris  Aviras. over the centuries, the science of cutting setting and engraving the stones has thrive, as indicated by the constant influx of updated versions The God's Grimoire. However, people's sensibilities - and morality - have largely steered away from the biological implications of the power.

Throughout the ages, a sect called the curators has flourished. Better known as blood curators, this sect used human products - such as flesh, blood and bone - in their treatment of stones with some incredible results. As is expected, this drew much disgust and derision from the general population and the sect has been driven underground and hunted. A Blood Curator knows that secrecy is of the utmost importance as discovery is a sure ticket to a drawn out and painful death.   

Career

Qualifications

Blood Curator are all highly skilled jewelers and gem cutters, with a little extra training. To become a qualified curator, hopefuls are trained in secret locations (usually hidden sections of hospitals and healing wards) and kept in isolation for up to seven years. Those who do not successfully qualify are ordered to never practice the art and are regularly checked up upon by members of the sect. If they are discovered to be breaking this rule, then they are outed to the authorities. Measures are taken to ensure that they are unable to reveal the sect's secrets.   

Payment & Reimbursement

Blood Curators charge hefty fees. If you are charged any less than an a extortionate sum, it is usually an indication that the 'curator' has either not been trained or has been rejected by the sect.
