Every culture has a story of how the world began, each different and varied in their own way. However, the Eternals, long-lived that they are, have a different story. It begins with the first Eternals: Anu and Enu. Remnants from a dying world, they created a home for themselves.
This home would be called Aeternum and from Enu came the first Eternals. However, something caused Enu to fade, to wane. Enu gave their life for their people. But not before one final gift: Eno, their reincarnation and Knight of the Eternals.
Eno was a perfect substitute for Enu, with Anu by his side. But soon, even they would fade. They created their own “gift:” Ano, their reincarnation and Seneschal of the Eternals. Soon, Aeternum wouldn’t suffice the brothers, as they call each other. So the two decided to expand their reach. With simple snaps of their fingers, the night sky would light up with thousands of new stars. They had no idea what they created but they simply created more and more anyway.
Supposedly, their final masterpiece was the realm of Avestra itself. But with a creation too close to home, it only led to disaster. Something turned the Eternals against each other with Ano and Eno even divided. Many believe Ano simply let his true nature out. A twisted and dark nature that Eno needed to stop. Others believed Eno saw a golden world he could mold into perfection, something the Eternals supposedly weren’t.
Whatever happened, the Eternals tore at each other. Ano and Eno fought. Their battle was so destructive, Eternity was close to end. But before the end could come, Aeternum disappeared. Every Eternal disappeared and Eternity was silent once again. Or Ano likes to tell wayward travelers.
From the absence of the Eternals came new life. Many across Avestra believe the planes were formed, followed by the beings that would become higher beings: gods, celestials, infernals, primordials, elementals. And from them came the mortals that inhabit the world. But that is reaching too close to the present for much came to pass before that point.
