Varnian Greyhulk
Basic Information
Anatomy
Greyhulks are bulky, muscular creatures that resemble large bears with tough, grey, rock-like skin in place of fur. Their skin is covered in a scaled substance made from the same material their claws are that helps to protect them from the ever present radiation of Varn, where they often stalk the wastelands in search of prey. When they find a target, their hunting strategy consists of charging at it at full speed, smashing into it to stun them before crushing their body between their extremely powerful jaws. As their armored skin keeps growing endlessly, it can start to become a hinderance to movement as joins begin to fuse together or eyes start to grow over. To prevent these things from happening, the Greyhulks must regularly claw bits of their hardened skin off in chunks, leaving bloody gouges behind. This lends even more to their imposing appearance, their own dark red blood often dripping down their hides in numerous places when encountered. When a Greyhulk has reached the end of its life and it’s muscles become weakened, they no longer have the strength or resolve to tear away growing flesh and eventually grow stiff and rigid with growths protruding in every direction including into the ground, anchoring them permanently in place. They starve like this and eventually decompose, leaving a a skeleton filled shell of their skin where they died.
Genetics and Reproduction
Male Greyhulks often abondan their mates after reproduction, the mother caring for the 1-3 younglings until they can fend for themselves.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Meat is of course the diet of these vicious creatures, Greyhulks regularly roaming the wastes in search of more food. While they much prefer large, more substantial meals, they can and often do consume Varnian Bone Rats to which their toxins they are immune.
