Order of Kyusho (Cai-you-show)
"There are things in the sand which need not be awakened..."Members of the Order of Kyusho are what might be called "fanatical repressionists." They blame the catastrophic consequences of The Great War in the Si Wong Desert on the precursor civilization to the Sand Tribes known only as the Si Wong Civilization. Specifically, the Order of Kyusho believes that secret knowledge possessed by the Si Wong Civilization led to other nations attacking the Si Wong Civilization in order to obtain said secret knowledge. These attacks ultimately led to the downfall of the civilization and the destruction of the Si Wong Oasis, turning it into the Si Wong Desert. Thus, the Order of Kyusho concludes that the secret knowledge of the Si Wong Civilization must have been of unfathomable power if the forces vying to obtain it caused such catastrophic destruction in fighting over it. Because of this, the order believes the ancient power of the Si Wong Civilization is too great and terrible for any one person to know and wield. They intend to keep the secrets of the past desert civilization buried underneath the sand through any means necessary. Those who get to close to finding the lost knowledge must face the full wrath of the order if they wish to see what lies under the dunes of Si Wong. The Order of Kyusho keeps its membership high by raiding and kidnapping other sand-benders in the Si Wong Desert. No person kidnapped has ever escaped the Order of Kyusho...
Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, the secret power which the ancient Si Wong Civilization possessed was actually the power of a Spirit being named Kyusho, an ancient ally of Vaatu, the Spirit of Darkness. When Kyusho was accidentally discovered by a few unlucky sand benders, he brainwashed them and started a cult to do his bidding. Kyusho mainly uses his cult to protect himself from outsiders while he figures out a way to summon Vaatu back into the physical world.
History
Kyusho was discovered locked away in a temple under the sands when a few unlucky sand-benders got lost looking for a water source. Kyusho used his spiritual power to brainwash these sand-benders and cause them to worship Kyusho as a god.
