Fremonti-Ur Empire

Founding

2365-2016

A rival to the Arko-Ur Empire for hundreds of years, this civilization stretched from northern Perengi to near the modern city of Trinit. Much more is known about it compared to its sister nation.

Compared to the Arko-Ur empire, its southern rival, much more is known about the Fremonti-Ur empire through archeological findings. The Fremonti were for much of their history a wealthy, industrious people originating from an ancient township near the Perengi city of Freehold, which was posthumously named Fremont. After discovering how to smelt iron, much earlier than many other local societies, the Fremonti used this advantage over their neighbors to unite the local city-states under a single banner.   Little is known about much of their society, but the government itself kept a vast catalog of military supplies and trading cargo large enough to give a detailed understanding of their material possessions. At the height of their power the Fremonti may have had a population approaching 100,000, many of whom were wealthy elites with access to a wide variety of raw materials and luxury goods. There are also detailed documentation of a widespread slave trade, unfortunate prisoners of war captured through conquest of the surrounding region.   However, as quickly as they rose to power the Fremonti went into decline. As coastal raids by the Falco-Kiptrani became more frequent confidence in the government fell. Combined with a decline in living standards (primarily due to running out of places to conquer) and a widespread post-ice age famine, the Fremonti empire lost the support of the public and collapsed.
