Nests

Since long before the first Avani ever existed, various species have constructed nests to hide their eggs and live near. Avani nests do virtually the same thing. Most nests are tiny, simple structures made out of wood or masonry and constructed well above the ground (often on top of other buildings). If possible, they might also be cut into a cliff face or mounted on a tree. They often possess only a couple of rooms and few items of furniture. They always contain a sleeping chamber and a main area, as well as often possessing a hatchery or a stable for Kirat Birds. Occasionally they will possess amenities such as a kitchen or study, but most of the time Avani own a second larger building that houses things like this. Some Avani may not have a nest, even though they may own buildings that would be considered mansions by any other civilization's standards, and will just sleep on the roof.   Notably, it is becoming a trend among the upper middle class to combine their living area and their nest into one building. This is perhaps because it is seen as a sign of fiscal responsibility since it is less expensive than having two separate structures. It is also a sign of confidence and bravery since these contemporary buildings are generally considered less secure against monster attacks. Another trend among some folk is to make these living-nests more extravagant and impressive, which is strictly against tradition and occasionally against housing codes. They may make the buildings unnecessarily large, filling them with fine trinkets and jewelry to display to any guests that may arrive. Members of older generations have reacted badly to this trend and often demand the government to do something about these frivolous wastes.
