Twelve Towers

A city state on the north eastern shore of Opal Bay. Its name is derived from the twelve very tall wizard towers found across the city. These twelve towers were constructed by ancient Archwizards in the first age. Since then there have been settlements surrounding these towers that have all together grown to a sprawling metroplis.     Eight of these towers are controlled by the Twelve Towers Wizardry University. Each of their towers houses an institute or department dedicated to a school of magic.
  • Abjuration Institute
  • Institute of Conjuration
  • Divination Institute
  • Departement of Enchantment
  • Institute of Evocation
  • Ark Institute for the Practice and Study of Illusions
  • Necromancy Department
  • Transmutation Institute
The other four towers are not part of the University. The ninth tower has been lost and just disappeared from the city almost a thousand years ago. Despite this the folks of Twelve Towers refuse to rename the city to Eleven Towers. The tenth tower was ruined more than a hundred years ago and is barely standing. The wizards could never agree who was responsible for its destruction and nobody ever bothered to rebuild it. Nobody talks about the eleventh tower as it has been cursed by the wrath of a long forgotten deity. For millenia have entered the tower to try and lift the curse, but none have succeeded so far. Many do come out with valuable treasures, while some never come out again. The 12th tower was lost by the university to Atraziel Lestock, who has remade it into a school for bardic magic where young bards learn their craft to impress their audience to the dismay of the wizards.
