Languages & Scripts
An overview of the languages spoken and scripts written in Aurelia and other realms. This list is not exhaustive and will be expanded as the world is further developed.
Aurelian Languages
These are the languages spoken on the continent Aurelia. Most languages are spoken by the peoples of a specific region. Almost all of the peoples in Aurelia speak Aurelian.Southern Aurelian Language Group
The languages spoken in southern Aurelia are almost all part of the same group. These languages are spoken in the different regions of southern Aurelia.- Aurelian (Common). It is the most common language in Aurelia. People of other regions often know this language as their second language. This language has many dialects, but the differences between them are very small.
- Ashvatthan (Gnomish). This language is spoken by the gnomes, ogres and hill giants of the Glimmering Orchards. It has very few dialects.
- Istraian. This language is spoken in the Midlands.
- Elenathian (Elvish). A language spoken in the Eldertree Forests and the most common language in the Ele
- Orean (Goblin). A language spoken in the Orean Sands. This language has few dialects. There is a large difference between the northern and the southern regions and communciation between them can be difficult.
- Valenian. A language spoken in the Glowshade Vale. This language has many dialects that are spoken in the different settlements of the vale.
- Arkosean. (Dwarvish) A language spoken by the inhabitants of the eastern Shifting Peaks. This language has many strong dialects with each valley or even settlement speaking their own.
- Padradion. A language spoken by the inhabitants of the western Shifting Peaks. This language has many strong dialects with each valley or even settlement speaking their own.
Skystone Language Group
The Skystone Nomads speak a language which is part of its own group. This language is simply known as Skystone. Each skystone nomad community speaks their own dialect of the language which makes it even harder to learn it properly.- Skystone. (Aarakocra) A language spoken by the Skystone nomads.
Overseas Languages
These are languages spoken by the peoples who have arrived on Aurelia from beyond the ocean. Many of these languages are in their own separate group and are mostly spoken on the coasts of Southern Aurelia.- Amaranean. The most common language spoken by the immigrants in Amara's Seat. The nobles and merchants speak a dialect of it which is fairly different fromt he dialect the sailors speak.

The peoples from other dimensions and planes have their own languages which are part of a few different language groups. The languages of the planes are less divergent and most peoples simply speak a dialect of the same language as their ancient lords rarely change how they speak. So once one of these languages is learnt they generally can all communicate with each other. There are four known planar language groups.Sylvan
Sylvan is spoken in the various regions of the Feywilds. There are many different languages, but they can all be understood by anyone who has learned any of them. All sylvan languages use the same writing system. The language is often used by Druids and characters connected to the Feywilds in the Material plane.- Anurakian. (Grung) A language spoken by the Anurakai. This language is in the sylvan language group.
Infernal
Infernal languages are dominant in the the planar regions of Acheron, the Nine Hells, Gehenna and Hades. These languages can appear in other regions in rare cases. All infernal languages use the same writing system simply called Infernal. Infernal is not spoken very often, as most devils can use telepathic communication. As a result there is also no commonly understood sign language.Abyssal
Abyssal languages are dominant in the planar regions Hades, Carceri, the Abyss, Pandemonium and Limbo. These languages can appear in other regions in rare cases. All abyssal languages use the same segmented writing system which is called Abyssal. Abyssal is not spoken very often, as most demons can use telepathic communication. As a result there is also no commonly understood sign language.Celestal
Celestial languages are dominant in the planar regions of Mechanus, Arcadia, Mount Celestia, Bytopia, Elysium, the Beastlands, Arborea and Ysgard. These languages can appear in other regions in rare cases. All celestial languages use the same segmented writing system which is called Celestial. Celestial sign language is known by many celestials.Primordial
Primoridal languages are dominant in the inner planes within the elemental chaos. These language can appear in other regions in rare cases. Primordial uses a logographic writing system called Primoridal. There is no commonly understood primoridal sign language.Special Languages
These languages are not associated with a specific place and have a special purpose.- Dragonic. All the dragon kinds have a common natural language. All dragons can understand this language. It has its own writing system with a script that looks very ornamental.
- Druidic. A language shared by all druids.
Ancient Scripts
These are scripts which can be found as texts on ancient books, stone tablets and scroll, but are no longer spoken by anyone in Aurelia.- Ancient Infernal
