Elf
Elves are a common species in Aurelia, known for their strong magical abilities due to their fey ancestry. This ancestry is expressed through a lineage. In the world there are many different lineages, but only ten have any presence in Aurelia. The lineage often effects the eye, hair and skill color of the elves. Elves are characterized by their pointed ears, lack of facial and body hair, and long lifespans of up to 750 years. Instead of sleeping, they enter a trance-like state to rest while remaining aware of their surroundings.
The majority of elves are of Elenathean or Amaranean ethnicity. However, since much of the Kingdom of Elenath was destroyed by the Shadowfell Plague, the Elenathean elves have spread to all corners of the continent, integrating and assimilating wherever they land.
The Amaranean elves, who arrived with Amara a hundred years ago, are mostly found in Amara's Seat. They speak Amaranean and are mainly considered to be nobility.
Elven lineages are developed depending on the environment the elves live in. This process takes several millenia for it to be noticable.
- Feywild Elf. Elves who have remained in the Feywild for the longest and with the strongest connection to it. They are rare on Aurelia.
- Shadowfell Elf. Most elves in the Shadowfell Realm are of this lineage. Most shadowfell elves are hostile towards Aurelians.
- Underdark Elf. They are common in the Underdark, but generally unheard of on the surface.
- Forest Elf. They are the most common lineage among the Elenathean elves.
- Swamp Elf. A significant minority among the Elenathean elves.
- Sea Elf. About a quarter of all Amaranean elves are sea elves.
- Mountain Elf. The Shifting Peaks and Titanstone Mountain Range are home to a small number of these elves.
- Desert Elf. The Orean Sands are inhabited by a significant number of desert elves. The majority of whom are part of the nomadic tribes traveling the dunes.
- Crystal Elf. These elves are affected by the Crystal Plane and serve the gem dragons.
- Snow Elf. A second group of elves from the Shifting Peaks. Mostly present in the ever cold western region.
