Santa Claus

This being is shrouded in mystery and no one can agree on if he is human or not.
He looks like a burly man with a white beard, always wearing a red winter coat and carrying a large bag as well as a two handed sword. Those that he visited report he has a jolly full hearted laugh and is very friendly.
When questioned where is he from or who he really is, he manages to dodge the question or simply says "I am, have been before you and will be. Just like you I am the water, the ground and air.", as confusing as that sounds he doesn't answer further but instead gives off a hearty laugh and changes the subject.
He appears in a random settlement in the world once a year on the 25th of December. When he appears it is always late in the evening once the sun has set, he knocks on the doors of the poor and hands out toys for the children and food for the adults. After giving the gifts he moves on to the next house and disappears once the sun rises the next day.
Those that tried to trace his footsteps in the snow reported that they simply stop at a random distance outside the town.
