Magic Scrolls

Basic Magic Scrolls are often written on simple parchment.
Some of the more powerful ones are generally written on magically enhanced leathers of various creatures.

Magic scrolls are created by scholars of magic and can be used by anyone, even the most simple peasant.
The way they work is, magic materials are infused with the scroll material and magic runes are formed in the scroll material.
The magic that lays dormant in the scroll is activated by a being tracing the magic runes with their fingers and reading out the words written under the symbols at the same time.
Once the spell has been used, the magic of the scroll is used up and the scroll self-destructs by burning away.
Back when magic was still allowed to be used by commoners in the Human Kingdoms, wizards/magic users were able to make scrolls and sell them in the various towns to make a living.
Now these wizards are forced to sell them at black markets or directly to adventurers that come visit their towers.
