He was once a fanatic for Beliar, he had a small group of people that prayed with him once a week. They managed to keep this a secret from their friends and family with some effort.
One day he heard a member of his prayer circle got wind of a wizard needing help with experiments, never having dealt with magic before but having heard about how dark and dangerous magic can be he decided to take his prayer circle and offer his services to this wizard in the hopes of twisting him into a follower of Beliar.
Once he and his prayer circle saw the wizard complete the ritual to become a lich they knew in their heart, this wizard must be an embodiment of Beliar in some way and decided to form a cult.
He was chosen by Agamemnon to become a Trusted, touched by the twisted magic and turned into a thrall.
