Valentine is an undead Centaur-Orc, who was once a 'Horse Cop', and now runs at the Dullahan Racetrack, where he is one of the top three favourites.
When he is not racing, Valentine can sometimes be found at the Obol Casino alongside Brom Bones (the headless bookie who oversees the racetrack for the Cold Hand), and his fellow champions: Torsey Tinhorn (a tiny gnomish jockey with a fascination for the undead) and Roanoke Cummings (an equestrian ghost whose perpetual unfinished business is always to win one more race).

Valentine was an unscrupulous officer who happily took bribes from the Cold Hand mob to look the other way on their illegal gambling empire.
Unlike most cops who worship the Orc goddess, Lady Justice, Valentine was a follower of Lady Valentine. This led to his fellow officers nicknaming him Valentine. After he died and became a zombie, he kept the nickname as his racehorse moniker at the Dullahan.
