Salilac

The Salilac is a great lake located in western Suthurhart between Orlonne and the Shield Coast region, with the easternmost reach of the Western Shield dividing it from the Bay of Ghosts to the south. It is economically extremely important for Orlan society both as an external method of trade as well as a rich source of fish. Unlike the Bay of Ghosts, the waters of the Salilac are generally described as gentle and easily sailed; mostly shallow, though with ample room for boat hulls except for certain regions near its shores, and severe weather is uncommon. As a result, the Salilac is able to be sailed even by boats or captains that would not be otherwise ocean-worthy. As a result, many Orlan sailors and vessels prefer to roam the Salilac and not venture out into the greater ocean, which is accessible only through the Bay.
The Salilac is fed by numerous rivers, and in turn outflows into the Bay of Ghosts through the Silustian Waters under Sabre Rock. This narrow chokepoint has historically been a major source of discontent between Orlan landowners, particularly the Duchy of Stenna, and Lonnite sailors.
