Valos Adrah

Valos is a man of few words and deep sadness. After his son failed to return from his travels and his village was destroyed, he began to wander the Middle Realm in search of the last remaining family member he has, unsure of whether or not Kochii is still alive.   Valos's Physical and Mental Facets are stronger than his Emotional Facet.

Personal history

CHILDHOOD
Valos was a lonely child. His mother and father were emotionally distant, while he and his only sibling (a sister born a decade before him) never truly connected. Other children his age overlooked him because of his quiet nature. Valos spent much of his time alone, poring over the scrolls kept sealed in waterproof cylinders on the top floors of his hometown's archive. The archive wasn't extensive, but the historical records still kept Valos entertained and sparked an interest in reading that would last him a lifetime.
ADOLESCENCE
As he grew into a teen, Valos began to tag along after his town's healer, Kozura, assisting the outwardly-gruff older man in both routine and unusual medical situations. Not only did Valos learn valuable information about healing from his mentor, he found a father figure in the man as well because, over time, something akin to a father-son relationship formed between the two.
ADULTHOOD
In his early adult years, Valos met a woman who seemed perfect for him at first. The two grew close and ultimately married. Though Valos would always remain attached to his mentor, eventually working with him as equals instead of teacher and student, his wife (and later his son) took up much of his attention during that period of his life.   Ever since he was born, Valos's child, Kochii, had a special bond with his father. While the two only grew closer with time, things between Valos and his wife began to break down when he discovered that she had been having affairs with other men since shortly after the pair had married. They parted ways when Kochii was only three years old. Valos fought hard to keep his child. His wife eventually relented and left town alone. Valos would never see her again.   Raising Kochii alone was difficult, but at least Valos still had his former mentor. Kozura, loyal as ever, was quick to take on a parental role once again, this time for Kochii. The child grew into his teenage years in a loving home despite his lack of a mother figure. When Kochii became an adult, Valos was disheartened to hear that his son intended to become an adventurer, but he supported him nevertheless, though he did make him promise to return home every once in a while to show that he was doing well.   Kochii and Valos's new routine worked well for several years. In between quests, Kochii returned home to visit his father, who was always relieved to see his son alive and in one piece. After some time, however, Kochii stopped showing up at his childhood home. Valos quickly began to worry. He wanted to find his son, but his duties at home kept him tethered to his lakeside town. That bond would soon be shattered when a wandering monster made its way up the river and lashed out at the town, sending its towers toppling and killing most of its inhabitants. Kozura was one of many casualties who didn't survive the attack. Valos made it out alive, albeit marked by a fresh scar across his cheek and a wounded psyche. Now with nothing and no one left to serve, Valos set off in search of Kochii. He currently wanders the continent of Tasawa in search of his son, hoping desperately that the young man is still alive.

Gender Identity

Like all Lorsath, Valos was born without a discernable gender. He chose to become male as he matured. He is happy with his decision.

Sexuality

Valos is rarely attracted to others, though when he is, their gender doesn't matter to him.

Education

He was trained as a healer in his youth, an endeavor at which he was very adept.

Employment

Valos worked for years as a healer in the community of Lorsath where he lived before it was destroyed. After that, when he took to wandering the continent of Tasawa in search of his son, he began serving as a healer for various adventuring parties.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Valos is proud of the lives he's saved or made better through his work as a healer, as well as the fact that he raised his son by himself.

Mental Trauma

Witnessing the destruction of his town by a wandering sea monster was extremely traumatic for Valos. He still suffers from anxiety and nightmares caused by the event.

Intellectual Characteristics

Visual, logical, naturalistic.

Morality & Philosophy

Though he sees the world as a vast, dark place full of suffering and cruelty, Valos believes that he has a duty to do what he can to make as many lives better as possible using his healing abilities. He doesn't think his efforts have a large scale impact, but at least he can help one or two people at a time.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

At this point in his life, Valos has two motivations. In the short term, his goal is to protect and heal his allies. In the long term, he wants to find Kochii alive.

Virtues & Personality perks

Valos is deeply loyal toward the people he cares about. He would move mountains to make sure that they remain happy and healthy. He's also very empathetic, a trait which drives his desire to heal others.

Vices & Personality flaws

Along with allowing himself to be taken advantage of for what he perceives to be the greater good, Valos is highly perfectionistic and is rarely satisfied with his own efforts.

Hygiene

His hygiene is excellent, both because his Lorsath heritage requires him to bathe frequently and because being dirty bothers him.

Social

Family Ties

He had a mother, father, and sister, but they are no longer living. His son Kochii left home several years ago, and because Valos hasn't heard from him in around a year, he doesn't know whether he's dead as well. Valos and his son's mother are no longer on speaking terms.

Social Aptitude

Though he doesn't fear social interaction, Valos is on the more introverted side and doesn't go out of his way to talk to others. His conversational style is direct and to the point, but not blunt.

Speech

His pitch is low, gentle, and close to monotone, while his vocabulary is typically as to-the-point as possible without being harsh.

Wealth & Financial state

Valos isn't particularly wealthy. He usually has enough money to get by, but he's gone through difficult times in the past.
