Celestial Boon
Every self-aware being within every Realm (aside from the Deities) is born with a living fragment of magic within them, commonly referred to as their Boon. This spark manifests itself differently for each person, but they almost always fall into one of three categories, physical, emotional, and mental. A person's gift is never extraordinarily powerful, but it always proves to be inextricably bonded with their personality and ultimately their fate.
The side effects of each particular gift are just as varied as the gifts themselves are, but they always involve some sort of drawback or give-and-take.
Causes
Magic, the natural world, technology, and the forces of life and death all make up parts of the magic of the Realms of Athanya. Everyone has a touch of the magic, their own personal spark, intrinsically tied to their individuality. An individual's gift originates from the ebb and flow of magic throughout the universe as dictated by the Celestial Stratagem and is granted to them at birth. Once the gift is granted, it remains part of the person forever.
Affected Groups
Every intelligent race except for the Deities is gifted a Boon. Non-intelligent species are not affected.
