Zeroes Meet Hero

General Summary

After leaving Semechis Keep, the party headed down to the Vermillan docks in search of a good bar. The entered a tavern called the Four-Armed Giant where they ran across Elria Svistra, a famous adventurer and member of the Jubilee Brigade. Elria was in town looking to hire assistants to help her slay a hydra that lived on the nearby Telimos Isle. After defeating all of the tavern's best brawlers, she sized up the party as capable warrior and offered them the job, which they accepted. The group bonded over drinks, while Elria explained her quest: she had been hired by the Rumiyyad Autarch to heal his daughter's rare blood disease, and the cure required the liver of a hydra. The group agreed to head out that afternoon, but decided to stop by an armorer first to commission some items.
They stopped in at Jorrgen's Armory and spoke with the shopkeeper, an excitable gnome named Jorrgen Lindepor. He was eager to make new equipment, and happily accepted a contract to forge a morion helm for Anton and a set of splint mail for Ra'zon. He also attempted to show Ra'zon some of his ideas for inventive weaponry but Ra'zon drunkenly insulted him and the gnome sadly went to work. As the party headed back to the docks, they asked around where they could find somewhere to sell the boat they hauled into town and discovered that there would be an auction in three days. They made arrangements to enter the boat in the auction and boarded the Mangy Dog, setting sail for Telimos Isle.
After sailing through the night, the Dog approached Telimos Isle. The party, alongside Mute Bob, headed into the swamps on high alert. Grom attempted to rouse the hydra using his Horn of Bowel Disruption, but only succeeded in stirring up a large nest of stirges. Making short work of the creatures, they soon came upon a ferocious ogre and his pet troll boar who attacked the party. Thanks to clever use of his unseen servant, Grom managed to trip the ogre which gave Ra'zon an opening to slay it.
The party headed deeper into the swamp and ran across the hydra. Elria began the fight with an opening salvo of thorns and vines, rendering the area around the monster painful to cross. The warriors hacked and slashed at the hydra, with Elria using the Mending spell and Ra'zon using his blackrock blade to cauterize the neck stumps and prevent new heads from growing. The intense battle ended when Grom got the killing shot through the use of the Shatter spell.
In the aftermath, the party looked around the hydra's lair and discovered the remains of a long-dead paladin of Elareya.
