Some Kinda Suicide Squad
General Summary
After murdering Lindor in full sight of the guards, Grom was placed under arrest and escorted towards the dungeon. By chance, the guard captain ran into Judge Aristo la Polla on the way there, who upon hearing the situation and witnessing Grom's disturbing lack of remorse immediately sentenced the two to be hanged. Meanwhile, Ra'zon managed to commandeer a passing trader's cart and bluff his way into the busy crime scene around Wizard's Tower Brewery to acquire Lindor's corpse. He entered town, stashed the body in a barrel behind Iarstina's Anvil, and severed the head which he placed in a garbage bin near the street. Then heading to the docks, he went into the Sunken Dragon Inn and hired two mercenaries named Big Tom & Skinny Pete to assist him in a prison break. Back at the gallows Grom was about to be hanged when Ra'zon appeared. He identified himself to Judge la Polla as a bounty hunter of the Hildonian military who had been tracking Grom, and requested that he be transferred to him for extradition. Judge la Polla agreed to postpone the execution until the council could hear the case. As Grom was brought to a prison cell, Ra'zon spent the night in a tavern. The next morning he went to the courthouse to meet with Judge la Polla. All seemed to be well until the judge placed Ra'zon under the Geas spell, forcing him to obey his commands. With Ra'zon in tow, the two went down to the dungeons to speak to Grom. Judge la Polla explained the political situation in Meicor: that the city was ruled by 12 aristocratic families, and the Judge was the head of one of those families. Lindor was an agent of the Zullo family, the la Pollas' longtime rivals. The Judge was actually appreciative of their slaying Lindor, and offered them a secret mission in exchange for their freedom. He explained that the Zullos made their wealth via their mines, and that they had recently uncovered an arcaltium vein. He asked the party to recover some arcaltium from that mine for him. On the way out of town the party stopped so that Grom could recover Lindor's head, but discovered that garbage collection had passed the night before. Grom instead decided to defile the headless corpse of Lindor which was still in the barrel. Grom then went shopping for weapons and Ra'zon headed to the courier post at the docks to send a message to the Hildonian Crownmage about the discovery of arcaltium and la Polla's intentions. After a few hours, they headed to the Zullo mine. Posing as bounty hunters on a mission to kill a beast that the miners had uncovered, they entered the mine and were led to the beast's cavern where they fought and defeated a gibbering mouther. After resting to heal their wounds, Grom and Ra'zon left the cavern to report their success after sneaking into the arcaltium mineshaft and managing to recover 12 rough crystals. The party returned to la Polla who rewarded them handsomely and gave them a sigil of House la Polla. As the night wound down, the party headed to Redfall's Roadhouse for drinks and lodging. Ra'zon nearly started a fight in his drunken haze but Grom managed to calm him down, and the party bedded down for the night.Characters Interacted With
