Get Out the Vote

General Summary

The party began making plans to win the overcaptain election for Anton, and settled on sabotaging the boats of the current frontrunner Captain John Foote. Stopping in at a general store run by the retired captain Roddard Blacktallow, the party learned that currently there were three captains running for overcaptain: John Foote, Hockley Thorpe, and Mary McCormac. They purchased some supplies before Anton's abrasiveness got him thrown out by the aging Captain Blacktallow. Grom was able to smooth things over with him, and moreover managed to bribe him to vote for Anton in the upcoming election. Grom also purchased a small pewter amulet from Blacktallow that bore the sigil of two dragons devouring each other on one side and runes spelling out the name "TAMARIL" on the other. Blacktallow said he found it in a shipwreck off the coast of Korvenstad roughly thirty years ago.   Deciding to scope out the competition, the party headed to John Foote's bar the Golden Schooner where they heard a party was being held for the participating captains. Anton boisterously attempted to sway the attending captains to his side with a rousing speech that seemed to be less inspiring than he expected; however, it did catch the ear of a dwarfish captain who called him over. The dwarf introduced himself as Morlaer kho-Serezh and said he would throw his vote behind Anton if he could defeat him in a sparring match. The two boxed for several rounds before Anton managed to knock kho-Serezh flat. The dwarf stumbled to his feet and praised Anton's prowess, drinking several rounds with him.   Meanwhile, Ra'zon spoke with John Foote in private. He told the captain about the plan to sabotage his ships, but said that it was Hockley Thorpe's men who were planning the attack. Foote thanked Ra'zon for the information and said he would have his men on guard.
