A Massacre in Meicor
General Summary
The session opened on a passenger ship pulling into the port of Meicor. Among the passengers were a mysterious crippled warrior named Ra'zon the Broken and Grom, a dragonborn pirate. During the voyage, the ship had been attacked by Argendivan sea bandits, and in the course of combat the two gained a mutual respect for each other. Upon docking in Meicor they elected to have a drink together and made their way to a dockside inn called the Half-Full Tankard, where they drank heavily and spoke loudly of their lack of funds, drawing the attention of a halfling who offered them a contract. He represented Lindor Glowkindle, owner of Wizard's Tower Breweries, and said that he had been tasked with bringing his employer capable fighters to deal with an issue. The party agreed to the contract and headed to the brewery where Lindor explained that an attempt to widen the basement disturbed a nest of giant rats. He asked the party to exterminate the rats and figure out where they were coming from. After fighting through an initial wave of rats, the party discovered that the excavation had uncovered an ancient structure of sorts adjacent to the basement. On the other side of the wall they encountered a trapped passageway that consisted of a mosaic tiled floor. Ra'zon was able to decipher a riddle that deactivated the trap, and the pair began to cross the hallway. They pushed forwards, discovering a giant spider behind one of the doors. Carefully backing out, they investigated another room to find a well that was infested with giant centipedes. The two made short work of them and looted the room before fighting off the giant spider in the other room. Through some investigation they were able to discover the source of the giant rats: a broken Potion of Enlargement. The party looted the room and returned aboveground to Lindor. They then learned from Lindor that the brewery was built on the rumored site of an ancient, long-destroyed wizard's tower. Lindor himself did not believe the legends, but upon hearing their report realized they must be true. Grom demanded an exorbitantly higher payment than initially agreed-upon due to the extra work involved. Contract renegotiations went very poorly and a fight broke out resulting in the death of several of Lindor's personal security personnel. Lindor himself attempted to flee but was grappled by Grom and Ra'zon.Chapter One
