Yimthrul
Yimthrul is the main city upon the Realm of Markesh, a veritable port without any water, among the larger Realms. Yimthrul sprawls in a depression among the hills of the Realm of Markesh and is comprised of domed buildings made of stone. The sprawl of the city covers many of the hills with several large port anchors for Realm ships spread throughout the city. The dense city scape contains multitudes of shops and marketplaces to sell and buy goods that are brought into Markesh from all of the other various Realms. The hot winds that bring the dust from the surrounding desert keeps the overall structure of the city to more of a sprawl rather than upward in a traditional city sense.
The city is comprised of a series of rings of aqueducts that separate the city into different regions of wealth and prosperity. The original city started by building an aqueduct to one of the surrounding anchor points to an elemental spout that had a water focus and ran the aqueduct towards the elemental anchor that allows for the draining of all sewage and anything else that gets caught in the outwash. The city slowly grew outward with time needing a second, third and finally a fourth ring. The outskirts of Markesh include a number of unstable elemental spouts that tend to attract elemental creatures.
The city was built upon the ruins of an ancient city that was torn apart when the Sundering of the Material Plane occurred. The founding of Yimthrul upon Markesh was due in large part to the large ore deposits of platinum, and eventually came to be more and more important with trading.
The outer ring or fourth ring serves as the main landing point of many trade vessels and is sort of a slum like area when it comes to the city of Yimthrul. The outer ring has a large amount of trading areas and simpler shops. The third ring contains the majority of shops and trading areas that serve as the center of trade for the bazaar of Markesh. The second ring serves as a mostly artisan area where many high priced things are manufactured and then later sold in the third ring. The central ring or first ring contains the majority of what is now government buildings as well as banks and much of the city’s wealthy and elite.

Government
Autocracy / Oligarchy
The High Lord of Markesh rules over all of Yimthrul and the Realm itself, however, each ring has its own Kadi or Minor Lord that oversees the day to day functions.
Industry & Trade
Platinum mining started as the main export and import, however, the Realm and the city itself has become a bustling trade hub to the point of being known as the Grand Bazaar for the Realms

Guilds and Factions
Many different guilds see to the day to day nature of many of the city. Some rings share guilds (such as the dock workers guild) but other guilds are relegated to a specific ring (such as the miners guilds).
History
The city started as a simple mining camp that drew up some of the water from the surrounding hills. The construction of an aqueduct system allowed the city to prosper and the mining operation to expand. Eventually the mining operation also attracted trade posts and artisans. The wealth of the city and the realm pulled in more trade and expanded the city to accomodate the growing level of trade coming to the Realm. Today Markesh and the city of Yimthrul hosts the largest sprawling marketplace and bazaars where a well connected individual can purchase almost anything their heart desires.
Architecture
Most of the buildings are stone dome structures, though there does exist square stone and even some wood structures. Due to the heat trade centric nature of the Realm and city, tent structures for taverns and inns are also popular.
