The Begging Well
A hag, Ginny Greenteeth by name
Plays a dark and twisted game
She lurks beneath the Begging Well
Until silence reaches the final bell
She is a thief of mortal people
Rending the flesh of young and feeble
Victims travel past the still waters
Unaware of the well's dark squatter
~Everton nursery rhymePurpose / Function
The Begging Well is a locally famous landmark. It is a wellspring—the primary source of water at the heart of Everton, especially after pollution from Mirandus followed the River Beltz down through Sylvanmere. People who use the fountain are encouraged to bring their own buckets/drinking cups.
Citizens and travelers will traditionally offer coins to the well as a sign of good luck before entering the forest. Some say the well's luck will keep fey away; others use it as a symbol of their chosen deity.
Alterations
The Silverheart family decorated the well with twin silver statues of dragons several years after its construction. At some point, the statues were vandalized and subsequently stolen.
After Ginny Greenteeth inhabited the well, it became polluted by magic and carnage. Drinking from the water began to spread disease through Everton until Ehlenestra purified it.
Architecture
The Begging Well is a stone basin which captures and holds drinking water. It is connected to a natural spring beneath the ground. The well is square, approximately 10' x 10' in diameter, and has a three-foot-tall lip. Water flowed through lead pipes and emerged from the mouth of the dragon statues before they were stolen. The entire well has a faint but powerful aura of natural magic—the water was once blessed by Ehlonna herself.

And sometimes you throw a coin in and it turns bloody and you have to avoid the entire area until you literally have Ehlenestra with you. I'm sure that was just, you know, a thing, and not a terrible omen.
